Monitor 50 / CS2 / PSW1 Matching...
Hello everyone.
I almost make a decision to match M50 + CS2 + PSW1 for entry level.
No rear No surround speaker...!!!
My concerning is ...
Many people say that M50/M60 user has to use CS1.
M70 User has to use CS2 because of driver size.
the reason why I choose CS2 is...
I guess it will make more clear and more loud voice sound.
I will purchase PSW1 also. that mean I can handle under 80hz base sound.
So I choose M50 small size one instead of M60 and M70.
Actually M70 is out of my budget
Onkyo HT-RC160 vs Sony STR-DN1000....
I will choose STR-DN1000... because of the powerful spec...
Am I making a right decision ????
Please give me a any input ...!!!!

I just read a post in another thread about a similar question I asked and Jeff (wutadumsn23) said that the CS2 is timbre matched for the entire Monitor series so you should be good to go. Enjoy your setup and welcome to Club Polk.

I would go for the Onkyo before I bought that Sony. Also, if you plan on keeping the M50's, the CS1 would be plenty of center, although having a CS2 wouldn't hurt. If you could save a little cash on the CS2, then you could upgrade the mains to M60's, which would be a decent improvement.
The main problem I see with your setup though is the sub. I'm assuming that you plan to buy a PSW10? I would really consider a better sub. Look at buying one used, you can get a lot more performance for the price. Good luck and welcome to the club.

Thank you.. I thought PSW10 will be enough for entry.
If so, What sub do you recommend ? -
Finally I changed my mind with...
receiver : ONKYO SR607
Front : Monitor 60's or 70's
Center : CS2
Woofer : PSW111
Rear : None
Still I will have psw111 Sub Woofer that more powerful than psw10
Can I go with Monitor 60 ?? or just go with 70 still ?? -

You are overthinking this, a common malady with this hobby. Your sub is going to take care of the low end so why spend extra $ to get a speaker with better low end? -

I just put this rig together myself (607/70/CS2) and I must say...I am very pleased. Initially I had a CS10 but swapped it out for a CS2 (according the theory and sound advice from members here).
If there is anything you do...I would highly recommend going with the 607 and building up from there. The receiver is what powers the speakers...so dont skimp there.Receiver: Onkyo TX-SR607 7.2

The CS2 would be the best choice with any of the Monitor series speakers up front. A bigger center channel is always the best choice, whenever space and budget permits. Over 60% of a movies soundtrack comes from the center, so it's an important speaker.
How are you planning on using your setup? Will it be all home theater use, or will you be doing a lot of music listening as well? Do you listen to music in 2 channel or surround sound? If you do a lot of 2 channel listening, I'd be more inclined to suggest either the 60's or the 70's. If you use it for mainly home theater, either the 50's or 60's will work fine.
I'd go for the PSW505 sub myself. It's got the most bang for the buck of the cheaper Polk subs. I've heard 505's on numerous occasions, and they're great sounding subs. Especially for the $250 they can be had for now.The nirvana inducer-

No I meant you don't need to spend extra on the front speakers (70s instead of 50s or 60s) because you will have a sub for the low end. I don't know much about the Polk subs but just looking at the specs, the 505 would seem to be a much better performer. -

OK Derrick4Real...!! I will keep the SR607 on my shopping list..!!!
Thx. -

That was what I want to know..
As you told, I think i will keep Monitor 60.
But It doesn't mean that M60 +sub make more good sound than M70+sub.
Still i believe M70 + sub matching will make more good sound at all frequencies. sorry for my stupid English. Thx.. lmacmil -

definitely you are right. in circumstance of movie,
Center speaker is the most most important part.!!!
That was why I'd chosen CS2 from the beginning.
I will use this setup for (2ch music) 30 : 70 (Movie and TV).
I will go with M60 with PSW505 as you mentioned. Thank you for guidance.

One thing to keep in mind, is that the 607 doesn't have any pre-amp outputs, so you can't connect an external amp. If you think you might add an external amp eventually, you might want to step up to a 706 or 707. If you don't think you'll ever need to connect an external amp, the 607 will work very well though.
If you can afford it, the Monitor 70's would still be better than the Monitor 60's.;)
Either way, that should be a great sounding setup once you get it all together. Onkyo's and Polk's go together very well IMO. Are you planning on adding surround channels eventually? What are you using as a source(CD player, DVD player etc.)?The nirvana inducer-

LOL, damn you Curt, but I agree the 70's are awesome. You have gotten some good advice in this thread OP, and I agree with the CS2, and the 505, they will compliment whatever you end up getting for your mains. Also, as Curt mentioned the only downfall of the 607 is it's lack of pre outs, but if you don't think you will ever add an external amp, the 607 will be plenty for the setup you are building. I love Onkyo's, and have an 806 myself. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Actually I don't have any decision about CD-player yet.
I simply think about rotel RCD-1520 CD-Player and PS3 for Blue-ray.

Congrat !!!!! Having fun... -
Good choice upgrading the sub from the PSW10 OP. Also, the M70's are a ton more speaker than the 50's or the 60's, so if they're only a little more expensive, its a no brainer. I still say look in the used market for your sub though, you never know what you might find.Home TheaterRTiA5 - CSiA6 - FXiA6 - PSW650 - Pioneer Elite SC-55 - Carver AV-505 - Sony 46" 120Hz - Monster HP 2400 - Xbox 360 - Playstation 32 ChannelPolk RTA 15TL - Harman Kardon HK3485 - HK DVD48 - Signal Cable IC's and speaker cables
