Help finding a Quiet HDD for Escient player

I have one of the old Escient H40 Firefox music players. It's called a music server but it's basically a component ipod.
It has a Western Digital 40 gig IDE 3.5 HDD and it sound like a jet engine at taxi. I'm going to upgrade to a larger HDD but I want the most quiet one I can find but it's difficult as I can't find sound levels published. The floor walkers at the stores are way beyond clueless.
Any suggestions? I'm pretty sure I need to stay with an IDE but I'm not absolutely sure that an adaptor wouldn't work. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

You could probably still find a Samsung Spinpoint 40-120GB IDE. They are/were quiet drives.
