I originally purchased a CS1 center speaker, then decided to replace with a CS2. I then could not resist a price drop on Newegg, and picked up the Yamaha RX-V765 R. Plan to purchase 70's for the front R/L floor position, and am looking for suggestions on R/L Presence Speakers, and surround speakers.

I used the Monitor 40's to match with my CS2 and M60's..it worked well. I have read that the M30's are nice as well and cheaper then the M40's.
You may get some good advice if you post room size, listening habits, music or HT etc... -
Welcome to Club Polk. Looks like you're off to a great start. I think the Monitor 40s would be a good choice if you're not looking to wall mount them. Otherwise, you could go with the 30s.

Thanks for the feedback. Here are my room perameters: Set up is in basement; 7' ceiling, total room is 35'x32'; listening area has large Plasma TV against 17' wall, seating is placed 12' feet away. The rest of the basement opens up behind this seating/listening area. I finished the listening area off in drywall and carpet. I prewired the walls with speaker wires set up for center channel, R/L Front Floor and R/L Front Presence speakers, R/L Surrounds, R/L Surround back's. I plan to also invest in a sub. Interest is to create theatre sound for movie watching, and also have quality sould system, with the ability to play variety of music; from rock, classical, pop, blues and jazz. I especially like unplugged music, which I am looking for this system to re-produce the instruments and vocals very clearly. I cannot afford the best components, but want to leave myself the option to upgrage single components, without starting over, to improve sound quality at a later date, if possible. I really appreciate this club and the feedback

Welcome to Club Polk sw, you are off to a very good start. I would go with the Monitor 40's for your surrounds if you don't have to wall mount them. the 40's can be wall mounted with a little tweaking, I have the 40's as my surrounds and they perform very well. I also have the CS2 and Monitor 70's as well, needless to say I have been very happy. Presence speakers IMHO opinion are a gimmick, but if you find them a necessity I would go with either the 30's or 40's, probably the 30's since they can be wall mounted right out of the box. I'm assuming that you have an AVR that will support presence speakers or you wouldn't be asking about them. As for subs, if you want to stick with Polk, I would recommend the PSW505, or something in the DSW line. The PSW is more suited towards HT and the DSW is more suited for music, but is also a good sub for HT as well. If you want to look outside Polk for a sub, look into SVS, Velodyne, Epik just to name a few. Good luck.
