I saw some 6SN7 tubes that are gray glass, instead of having a clear glass.
what are these tubes?
Having gray glass, one doesn't see if the tubes glow.

Yep, Gray glass are very sought after but the 5692 might even be better and just as sought after.

The gray coating was put on many 50's large signal and power tubes tubes to reduce stray emissions in tube equipment.

I have RCA 6V6GT's with gray glass and I think for a 6V6Gt they are the best sounding except for the Bendix 5992.

Yes, but it tends to be very diffused. Depends on the how thick the coating is. I was thinking the same thing about my RCA 6V6's but after hearing them I don't care, they are fantastic!! I can see them glow, but not like a clear tube.
