I picked this piece up right here on the forum. It is gorgeous and fully functional save for one thing. When it arrived here, the "Phono" grounding post had sheared off during shipment. I have the original sheared piece, and a whole new ground post from a Hafler DH-110 also. You can always ground on any chassis screw. I have the original box, packing, and owners manual.

This was reputed to be the top of the heap for Carver SS preamps. I liked it, but only put about ten hours on it, as I had purchased it as a spare.

200 US dollars.

    George -

I see you've decided to sell the Carver! Good luck. I just received my first tube preamp in the mail the other day. My setup is all screwed to hell because I was supposed to ahve a rug installed last week, and they ordered the wrong ****. My setup is in my small living room, so no way to judge. I did do a side by side comparison with the TEchnics in that room, and it sounded really nice. A bit clearer than the TEchnics. I haven't even tried the upgraded tubes - waiting to hear from the original owner. Too bad this wasn't a few weeks ago, or I may own the Carver nwo :)

I have to go through several more "spares" before I get to this one. I will have reached my own shelf life by that time. It's going to waste here.

    George,

TNRabbit was acting as intermediary on my behalf by contacting you concerning your C-16. He did so as a favor to me from somemone who has purchased 2 items from him over the last few years. As a new member I cannot send you a PM yet but I am interested in this pre. Please contact me.

    cheers, weitrhino

Rodney, will this be paired with Bob's mono tube amps?

That's the idea, Tom. I'm trying to prepare for our move this summer to a larger house where I can have my own man-cave with a 2 channel setup and move my Ultimate Receiver into dedicated HT duty. But, that'll probably change 2 or 3 more times before then! Hey, I should be about 90 miles from you!

What I'll tell is this: The C-16 arrived today expertly packed. In fact, I cannot recall ever receiving any gear by delivery that was packed with such care; double boxed and padded on all sides, top and bottom, and additional corner braces ~ simply outstanding.

UPS left it on my front door so it was quite cold when I got it inside. Physically it appears to be nearly flawless. I'm allowing it a full day to rise to room temperature and let any condensation evaporate before putting it through it's paces.

All indications point to a happy new owner.

Two days and counting....the new C-16 has been sitting in the stack next to the TV in the living room and NOBODY has even noticed it. Not the wife or the kids!

So sorry, George. My beautiful wife spied it this morning after staring at the TV for a while. Even then she wasn't sure just what changed, only that something changed.

I love her. She doesn't care if I bought myself a new toy or not!

I think you are getting the C-16 and the C-19 mixed up. It is the C-19 that is a tube pre.
