Do the outboard crossovers for the MM651 coaxials come apart?

I just got my MM's in the mail yesterday and I started the process of putting em in and I hit a roadblock when I couldn't get the crossover apart. The book shows a vague picture so I'm not sure how its done. There are mounting holes on the inside of the crossover so I assume I use these to mount it, and then snap my outside cover on making it a nice and clean install. I tried pulling it apart but it isn't coming apart to easy and I don't want to break it. Am I just being a puss or is there a trick to it.

also, if I wanted to mount the crossover to the actual back of the speaker itself, would it work? Would the magnet on the driver interfere or damage the crossover if they were that close to each other?

You can't mount your xovers anywhere on your speakers. :)

You're right. You would first mount the base plate of the xover and then snap the cover on. Since you snap it on, there's got to be some release mechanism. Some place you have to press down on etc. Look carefully, I'm sure you'll find it.

If all else fails, theres always CS. ;)

well, I did the driver door yesterday and I just got some zip tie anchors and put a thin film of contact cement on the sticky side and glued it to the inside of the door skin. And then just zip tied the crossover to the anchors. It seemed to work well, we'll see how it holds up to normal driving conditions (bumps and such). On a better note they sound incredible, I still have the DB650 in on the passenger side and I've been comparing them with different songs. The adjustable tweeter on the MM's is great. My sound stage has raised noticeably.

got em in, here's a few bad pics from when the door panels were off. The cheap sound deadener you see is some protecto wrap I had left over from an old project. I figured it wouldn't hurt so wrapped the stock hole in it before I fastened my adapter down.
