If ya don't mind me asking what did you have to give for it? I am in the process of buying a new one myself and am having a tough time picking one. I would really like to find something similar to what you are buying because of the screen size and the blu-ray player.

    Thanks

I have a bunch of Clients with SSD's and those laptops are so fast!

Should be installing one in my desktop as boot drive this week and running a WD Black 750Gb as my secondary. I'm hoping the cash spent is well worth it.

Thnx for the link. I ended up with the Intel 80gb. Looking at my HDD properties now and I'm only using a total of 47gb with all my apps and Outlook now on one drive. 80gb should definitely work for me.

Las how do you like those Raptors bro? Fast or what?

I think he means "3 virus scanners."

Like for example Norton Internet Security + AVG. I know that Norton works fine with AVG even if both are running at the same time. But I like to set one to autostart and the other to just scan when necessary.

A while ago I purchased a legal copy from Microsoft (Windows Live OneCare 2.0, IIRC) and had issues with activation. They wouldn't give me installation support after 1 year of purchase, even though I had the receipt!!

Apparently you're supposed to install it on the 3 PC's right when you purchase it, not months later.

Not sure if things have changed.

That's not the case in mine. I added and removed PCs when I had onecare with no issues.

Onecare has been discontinued and right now they give the protection for free until July 2010. I assumed they will have a new version for Windows 7 in 6 months, to replace it.

Btw, their support sucked. I had problem installing it to a windows XP a few years ago, and the only support I get was through email. Eventually I resolved it myself, by tinkering with .NET versions.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

You are lucky then. I installed OneCare on a PC that had hardware issues, and returned the PC to Dell. They (Microsoft) would not honor the activation on subsequent PC's.

If you activate ANY of their software on a laptop, and then return the laptop to the store - you've wasted one activation.

BTW, it's the same with Office. For example: Install it on a computer, return the computer to Best Buy, and get store credit to buy a new PC = denied activation on the new PC.

Windows XP doesn't have this issue though??

Couple times, I had the issue of XP and Vista refused to be activated via web (because of the issue you mentioned, i.e. exceeding the numbers). But it is very straight forward to fix it: call the 800 number that popped up on the screen and go through the validation prompt (all recording) and answer a series of questions, such as is it a reinstallation, etc. etc., and you'll be cleared.

EDIT: Btw, Sid..err...I meant Trey, good deal! have fun with the new toy. :p

LOL a laptop that ran without a problem and did everything I wanted for 6 years. I call that a real laptop.

As for talking about viruses and all I really can not recommend any protection from microsoft. AVG for viruses, malware bytes for malware and that's it the best part is that they are both free.
