Mirage M-590i

Ok,
Once again, I've got too many speakers. These ones are sitting on my dining room table and I can't think of any place in the house to put them. My wife is bitching about them. They are not exactly the best looking speakers, but they sound fantastic and they are really solid speakers. I bought these along with some other gear thinking they would be a good match for the M290 that I already have in my son's room but the tweeters are quite different.
Mirage M-590i Bipolar Towers circa 1995
They are a two way bi-polar speaker in a ported tower enclosure. That twin 5.5" mid-bass and twin .75" vapor deposited titanium tweeters. They are front/back mirror arrangement and wired in phase, hence bipolar (not dipolar).
Mirage doesn't host the brochure anymore, but I found it here:
http://www.who-sells-it.com/cy/mirage-speakers-1446/590i-5753.html
Mirage calls these 'titanium" tweeters, but I swear, when I look at them, they look like a fabric dome that is covered in silver paint (probably the titanium 'vapor deposited'). Either way, they don't sound like a typical metal dome. They are laid back and smooth. The speaker is very jazz friendly and has surprising bass extension given the arrangement. They seemed to dig deeper than my RT800i. The cabinets are very well made and you can see they have extensive reinforcement. These smallish towers weigh in at 50lbs each. The bases are threaded for spikes, but I don't have any currently.
Cosmetically, these speakers have a lot to be desired. They are supposed to have piano finish wood 'caps' on top, but the original owner lost them! They also have fabric 'socks' that go around the entire speaker (instead of a normal vinyl type finish). Those socks have some pulls and tears in them, so I just took them off completely. I rather like the look of the speakers without the socks. Either way, they probably wouldn't pass any WAF test. These are garage, basement, bachelor pad, or man pit speakers.
Normally these seem to sell for ~$200, but since mine are missing the caps and need new fabric (and someone that can sew),
I'm only asking $100 for the pair for local deals only. I'm not willing to ship these. Come see them and listen to them. The doors are always open for fellow Polkies.
Pics coming soon

What you are seeing is basically a primer paint on the cabinet MDF. Mirage never meant for this to be seen, so its not really the best paint job. Its basically to provide a black backing for the fabric socks. I have the socks if you want to try and sew up a new set with some new fabric. You could also try to paint them better or cover in vinyl, or, just leave them alone and enjoy the sound.

A bump for any Georgia Polkies that didn't see this.

I picked up a set of mint 890i locally on cl for $50 and they are sweet speakers! dont let the smalish drivers fool ya they sound great
-
Yeah, the 890i are the same woofers, but with slightly larger tweeters and larger cabinet. Sounds like you got an incredible deal. I paid much more for mine, and they are obviously not mint.
-
Bumpage. Still available.
-
A little bump. Offers?
-
Anybody interested? If not, I'm going to put these suckers on Craigslist and see what happens.
-
I'd be more than interested, but shipping would be a hassle and expensive.

A bump for the weekend. Offers? You might be surprised what I'd take for them...
-
Bill, any chance of meeting somewhere around half way? I was a little surprised to say the least with my tax return, which should be deposited the 2nd week of March.
Surprised you say?--Gary--

If I had to drive a few hours round trip, I don't think there would be any surprise on the price
Don't think I'd be able to swing that anyway. Life is busy with two young kids at home.

Well, what if I got my brother-in-law that lives in Douglasville to meet you? That's pretty close to Powder Springs. Then I could have him bring them to me the next time he comes down to the lake.--Gary--

That wouldn't be a problem. Douglasville is practically my neighbor. Just PM me with details, phone #, etc. -

Do you still have your m 590i available for sale?
-
Nope, they are sold.
-
Got 'em today Bill. Haven't had a lot of time to listen to them yet cause I gotta work tonight. But so far.....I think they present a nicer image than my Monitor 10's. Definately don't have the bass the 10's do. Lotta damn sound from them little speakers though!
Can't wait to test them out more this weekend. The 10's might go to surround duty and the little Energy's go to my daughters room.
