    short answer is yes.. you need something to wire the speakers to.
    Main 2ch -
    BlueSound Node->Ethereal optical cable->Peachtree Audio Nova 150->GoldenEar Triton 2+
    TT - Pro-ject Classic SB with Sumiko Bluepoint.

    TV 3.1 system -
    Denon 3500 -> Dynaudio Excite 32/22

    Can't I just wire them to the sub, and then take a spdif or something from the sub to the HDTV? Does the Sub power all these speakers?

    if you look at the manual for the system http://www.polkaudio.com/downloads/manuals/home/RM6750_Manual.pdf

    all three hook up options require that you have a receiver to process the sound before outputting it.. you can hook it looks like your mains through the Sub but you still need a processor.

    Thank you for helping man.

    But I'm using a PC with a blu ray, wouldn't all my processing of audio go on in there with the software, then out the sound card, into the subwoofer?

    Are these powered speakers?

    I just read the manual, and why can't I just put the speaker cables into the back of the subwoofer instead of putting them into a receiver?

    you can run speaker cable into the spring clips input if you have a binding post or spring clip out on your PC and then run the speaker outs to two speakers, but that's it.. you can only get stereo sound from that subwoofer.. you would not get any benefit for surround sound b/c the sub only has 1 pair of speaker outs.

    If i'm not mistaken.. and somebody else correct me if I am.. the rca inputs are only for the Sub and aren't going to out put to the speaker out spring clips on sub.

    the sub is powered. all the other speakers are passive
