Rti4 or fxi 4 for surround speakers?
Hello everybody,
i purchased a pair of rti a 7 for the front of system but i am looking to complete the setup with either rti 4 (at $150 in jr.com) or the fxi a4 ($450).
Was wondering if any of you have the rti4 as back speakers and if you could share with me if they work good as back speakers or if i should spend the extra money for the fxi a4, it is a big price difference.
Thank you very much and best regards.

I still have RTi4s as my back speakers - works well for my preferences - as I do more music listening or music movies (using multichannel modes).
RTi4s as monopoles will mean that for movies sound effects will be more localized so if you are more into movies and have lots of seating the fxi a4s might be the better choice.
I like the value and performance of the RTi4s -but that's me.

If you are into more movie watching, the FXiA4's would be the better choice for rear surrounds IMO. The RTi4's would be good for the side surrounds if you are setting up 7.1. I can't believe how much the FXiA4's have gone up in price. I got mine for $189 from Polk (refurbished) this time last year and now they are $279. They are worth it though, a very nice sounding speaker. Good luck and I hope this helps. It's all in the detail.

For the money, I would get the Rti4s. My setup is similar - I keep moving my 4's further back. FYI - Polk Audio Direct has the fxi's for $289. They only have white but still a good price. If you watch a lot of movies, go with the FXi's, but you'd probably still be very happy with the RTi4's.The nirvana inducer-

I use FXi3s for side surrounds. I'd love to add another pair for backs, but can't find them anymore. I'd go with RTi4s, but I'd have a difficult time mounting them, as they need to go above my windows. My interim solution is a pair of Definitive Technology Promonitor 800s - smaller satellite speakers. If space isn't a consideration, I'd go with the RTi4s, otherwise, the FXiA4s seem like a wonderful option. It seems win/win for you.:)

I just got RTi4's today. $150 free shipping is hard to pass up. They match my RTi8's and CSi5 nicely. I would rather have fxi3's or rti a4's but the price jump was too much for me. I was quite happy with the RTi4's as rear surrounds watching movies tonight.
