Cerwin Vegas makes loud, college-party speakers. High Fidelity they are NOT...

As their slogan even says...they are the "LOUDspeaker Company."

They've probably got some bone crushing bass response(most CV's do), but that's about it.

George and I joked, they're the best speaker when you want to listen to music while mowing your lawn! To be fair, I have never heard those speakers.

One of my friends dads swears by CV's...it's all he'll ever buy.

There are times he'll turn his rig up loud enough that you can hear it like half a block away. It still sounds terrible...just from much farther away...lol

CV's are SPL queens, and thats about as far as it goes.

I had some CV towers before I got my A5's. Three ways with a 12", 6.5" and a 3/4" tweet. They were fun to listen to because they are unbelievably easy to drive and have some serious bass. Those in the link look a little better than mine, but I still doubt they are anything close to HIFI.

I still have my Cerwin Vega AT-12's and they do rock the parties!! I really don't mind them, they really do need a good amp to sound decently good. Never run them off an A/V receiver because they will sound completely utterly garbage!! Sounded really nice with my vinage Sansui. Im keeping mine for anytime i have a house crashing party...haha!

I think the only other Cerwin Vega I would ever buy would be the vintage 12Tr. Circa 1977 - 1981. As a kid my neighbour's dad had a pair of these and he would crank the Reggae off these babies and they sounded awesome. Had a 12inch down firing woofer, midrange and tweet in the front and a second tweet in the back...very rare speakers..probably CVs best ever.. after that no other CV was ever any good

The company is consistent in offering just about the most obnoxious sounding loudspeakers, no matter if they originated in the 60's, or after the turn of the century.

I had a pair of AT-12s bought in the late '80s. Kept them until about 3 years ago when I replaced them with a pair of Monitor 70s. Even though the 70s are considered entry level speakers - I had no idea what a good pair of speakers sounded like until I brought the Polks home.

I hear what your saying.... when i changed them over to my A9's i WAS expecting a huge improvement in SQ and accuracy. Expectations met.. ;)

I have a set with twelve inch woofers and another set with 15 inch woofers and a vintage HK 730 I believe the model is. And they are very loud and not much range in sound but do hit hard with some of that retro Gansta Rap!

I am going to get either to Cerwin Vega or JBL pro for the UPA1 set up with a Fm pre tuner . Funky and loud. Good for Spring time while taking care of my rose garden and flower bed.

Nothing worst than wearing a head phone and sweating the same time. Hello ZZ top, Kiss, the Hollies. Classic rock rules !
