I'm on a jazz kick (when not listening to Sabbath...go figure) and San Diego has a premier non-commercial jazz station:

I use pandora a lot. I listen to XM radio at work, but it sounds like junk on the polk's. i would liek to find some other ones that sound good and have a good variety. Anyone use last.fm? Heard about it but never really looked into it.

Excellent call, you beat me to it. I use Groove Shark, Pandora and LastFM. Grooveshark is availabe for mobiles as well, you just have to pay 3$ a month to get it on ur phone. I love Pandora, as it plays on my droid. If I forget my ipod, I just pull up Pandora on the droid and let it run through my car stereo. Not perfect sound by any means, but not bad for free :)

Although both are only for casual listening/idle, as not terribly high quality streams (then again, this is on custom monitors)
