I just bought a pr. of RT 7s unheard, and I got what I deserved: one of the mid/woofers has a problem, the voice coil is rubbing the cone. My question is, can I repair this or do I have to get another driver? If I have to get another drive:confused:r, which one do I use and where do I get it? MW8002 is on the sticker of the said driver. Is that the model #? Thanks for any help.

Get another driver. Call the phone number displayed on the upper right hand corner of your computer screen. Tell them what speaker you have, and that you're a member of this forum, and they'll take care of you. :)

    welcome!

One thing you might try first, is rotating the driver 180 degrees. In a thread about a similar issue, the now retired Ken of PolkCS suggested that and it worked, for the other guy. At least worth a shot before you lay down some coin.

OK, thanks to both Concealer404 and kcoc321. I will try the rotation thing and if success eludes, I will dial the #. Thanks again for your rapid aid.

Hmmmm......the rotation seems to have worked. I will let it run a day or 2 to make sure.

One question: the wires now connect at the top of the driver. If they rest on the back of the speaker--the magnet part I am assuming-- on their way to the crossover, will there be any issue with heat, induction of current being so close to the magnet, etc.?

OK, its been several days now and the speaker is doing fine. I posted on another speaker forum, asking why this would work. The answer was that it was intuitive: gravity somehow pulled down on the voice coil enough to straighten it well enough so as to not rub. Who woulda thought.
