Well it's been a good day. I picked up a bunch of gear, a black Teac X-2000R Reel to Reel with the optional dust cover, Yamaha M-80 amp, Carver C-1 preamp, JBL 4312's Denon DP- 62L, Technics PL-200, DBX-3BX3, DBX-224X, And a bunch of other gear a Sansui cassette deck, Sony CD player an Yamaha tuner and a few other items all in as perfectly mint condition as any used gear I have ever seen with original boxes and manuals for everything for $700.00.

REGARDS SNOW
Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

Thanks Tom. I was pretty excited to see all this gear, I never find decent audio gear up here for any price, im torn between keeping the Reel to Reel and the Denon- DP-62L turntable and just simply flipping them. Everything is one owner from a non smoking house and is in like new condition and I love and have a great respect for all things audio and I know that I will most likely never use either of those items but will never see them up here again. Here are a few pics of what they look like, these pics arent of the ones I got because I broke my camera but will give people an idea of what they look like.

Thanks. Not real sure what im going to do with this all gear to be honest, I just knew that I couldnt pass it up for the price, I will most likely at least listen to the Yamaha M-80 amp in my current rig, listen to the Carver C-1 preamp in my current rig before I get rid of either or maybe keep both as a spare setup.

The JBL-4312's are spoken for allready by a friend, the tuner I am giving to another friend. I will sell the DBX gear for sure. As mentioned earlier I am torn between keeping or selling the turntable and reel to reel simply because they will be virtually impossible for me to replace locally and their very nice units, on the other hand because I have no intention of ever using either one do I really want these just to look at? The rest of the gear cassete deck, CD player, equalizer, timer etc will hopefully be given away to good homes.

Hi Joe since your a vinyl freak what is a Audio Technica AT 33 ML cartridge and is it worth a damn? thats what with the turntable.

I got the Yamaha M-80 hooked up and doing a little listening its barely loafing along accordingd to the digital meters using around 0.06 to 0.6 watts to produce average listening levels, not sure its my cup of tea but it has a very nice detailed sound.

Audio Technica's cartridges aren't bad per se but I would go with a high output MC cartridge like the Dynavector 10 x 5. They start at around $380 and once they are broken in (about 35 hours) it has a nice presentation but will remain a little hot until it is well broken in. They are also very forgiving in getting them set up.

BTW that is a cool looking TT.
