Hi all,
Do any of you own the CAL equipment? I just acquired the CL-10 5-disc CD changer. Some reviews claim it to be the best CD changer ever (in 1999 when it came out).
How does it stack up against other higher-end CD players?
I'll hook it up to my system on the weekend, but I am not sure if my system will do justice to this piece of equipment (Carver C-1, Dynaco ST-70, Magneplanar MGII). It just seems out of the league with the rest of my stuff.

I've had one on loan for some time now - (thanks, Bullet21 I will get it back up to you soon). But, I haven't hooked it up because it doesn't have analog outputs. Digital and balanced outputs only. In lieu of a DAC, would a balanced to RCA converter work? I'd love to give it a listen and compare it to my AMC CD8b and give my impressions.

I've had a few pieces from them including the cl-25, and I will agree they are outstanding. Compared to todays cdp,I think they would still stand up,just my opinion though.HT SYSTEM-

I have had the CAL CL-10 in my system for sometime....I think it sounds very good. Solid bass presentation and smooth mid-range w/ the all the benefits of a changer. Mine does have analog , coax, and balanced digital outs. Built like a tank. The guy I bought it from said he tried a couple external DAC, but always came back to the CAL's DAC everytime. I have listened to a Music Hall CD player and preferred the sound of the CAL...in my system. I felt like the use of certain cables improved the sound as well. I use MIT Avt MA interconnects and a Nordost Vishnu power cord. I know the issue of power cords seems to stir some emotions, but I noticed more defined or more 3D mid-range and vocals with the power cord and interconnects. It is larger that other cd players, but for me at this time that is not a big deal.Anthem D2v
