Need SDA Crossover help

Hello everyone! Recently my SDA1's started to sound as though they lost a little something. They still sound good, but to my ear that's been listening to them for 25 years, they seem as though they lost a little depth. I called Polk and they said it sounds like they need the crossovers rebuilt. Said the electrolytic caps go bad after 15 years or so. I am not a technician and the closest shop I found so far is 2 1/2 hours west of me from the Philadelphia area. Are there component parts I can remove and send to them? Is it something a novice can rebuild? Any help at all will be welcome.

Thank You!

It can be done by anyone with good soldering skills. There are some examples of rebuilds on this board. I would recommend going to the Vintage section and snooping around. Theres a lot to learn. If your not comfortable doing it I'm sure someone here would do it for a small fee.

I found a Polk Dealer in Chambersburg, PA which is about 2 1/5 hours from me. He says he can do the XO rebuild. With him I can also take both speakers to his shop and have the drivers checked out as well. He said he would call Polk to see whats needed. Any opinions on me going this route?

He said he would call Polk to see whats needed.

Can't be a very good tech, all one has to do is look at the value markings on the crossover components.

Send them to Ben, he'll use better parts and do the job for less.

First we need to identify your speakers. I shoot you my number. But please shoot some pics with the grills off and the rear where the cable plugs in.
    Thanks much.

Thanks Ben, I'll do that tonight. This is all new to me so please bare with me. I was nervous about removing boards which are soldered to the speakers, but now after reading a bunch of posts, I believe I have SDA1C's. I'll also check that tonight. That would mean 1 board per cabinet with plugs...no soldering.

Wow those 1C crossover look way more ominous to redo than the 1.2 TLs.

    Nice pics.

Joe,, they are really pretty easy,,the first one is the most challenging, as in anything,, the largest hurdle for me was replacing the original caps with new-larger caps and leaving enough room for the tweeter and midrange connectors "snap connectors" to lock in,,lol.
JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)
