Hello all -

I am looking for either the cs400 or cs1000. I have rt2000's now, so i think the 1000 would go great with my system!! I just can't seem to find any. Anyone know where i can look? I don't mind used as long as it is in good condition.

If I can't get the 1000, i would seriously consider the 400 at a good price....

I found this on Audiogon, it's part of his ad for some other speakers.

"soon i will be selling a pair of rt3000p's in black and a cs1000p in black and they are about 6 months old. i am currently selling the matching f/x1000 bi/dipole surround speakers
on shipping weight that was a guess
    call 352 380 0196 if any question"

I will try to contact this person.

Do you now if there are any online retailers that still carry them?

    Thanks for the help.

    Hey psuie23-
I really doubt any online retailers still have them. They might still list them, but when you go to order they are out of stock. If you search Yahoo you will see what I mean. I thought I was doing people a favor several months ago when I posted a few but, that is what happened. Take it easy and good luck, you will enjoy it. Mike

do any of you know how much better the 400 or the 1000 will match my rt2000's than the cs245 or cs175 that i have now?

Tonally I don't think the difference is will be that great when you move up. SPL delivery is where the 400 and 1000 will stand out from your current centers.

I was hot after the 1000p as well a while back and got waved off by several folks in the Club. Deal is that if you have or get a sub you will likely run speakers set to small and the sub "capability" of the 1000p is wasted. I ended up with a 400 and a 350. The 400 is the better center IMO. My 350 will likely end up as a rear center.

    Happy hunting…

please excuse my ignorance....what is SPL?

    No problem...

SPL = Sound Pressure Level measured in decibels (db)

Radio Shack carries a great, analog SPL Meter for ~$35. If you don't have one, you should pick one up to help balance your HT.

I have one already. I used it to balance my current setup. Even with that, my cs245 seems to be drowned out by the fronts.

I guess the basic quesion is....is upgrading to the 400 from the 245 worth the money?

What about the 300? I saw one of those on Ebay. Is it too old to be worth wild?

Great that you have a meter. If you haven't seen them, Dr. Spec has made several good posts here on proper set-up using an SPL Meter.

As far as the worth of the upgrade goes, you really answered your own question. The 400 won't take a back seat.

Can't help you on an opinion on the 300, but someone will be along who can.

Your center uses 2 5.25" drivers, and a 1" tweeter. The cs400 uses 2 6.5" drivers and a 1" tweeter, so you will get perfect timbre matching all around. I would strongly suggest going this route, although Russman does like the 300 better. Either way it will be an improvement and you wont feel like the center is being overpowered. Take it easy. Mike

All I meant was you say your current center can't keep up/ put out enough to be heard over your mains... that says you need to updgrade your center and the 400 will, as dthomps indicated, be heard.
