A great weekend with a surreal ending...

Had a GREAT weekend this weekend....a little bit of everything.

First, had Friday off....so, got in a round of golf and hit it better than I have in a couple of years. I finally started swinging it like I was back in 2007....I won't bore you with the details, but I had an epiphany and figured out what had wrecked my swing...

Got home from the golf course to find that FedEx delivered TLW's new SurroundBar 360 DVD theater....review forthcoming...but this thing is the real deal. AWESOME and oh so simple. I LOVE this thing!!!

So, then Jerry comes in from Atlanta on Saturday to pick up the 2.3tl's. Man, what a pretty emotional thing that was. On the one hand....they probably (other than PF) haven't got 100 hours on them in the past three or four years. They aren't going to displace the Quads....so, really, what's the point of just letting them sit there and rot? Well, still, I LOVE those things....anyhow, Jerry is a GREAT guy. We had a lovely meal, courtesy of TLW, had a good listen to the 2.3tl's and just had a great time. Did I mention what a great guy Jerry is? He's lucky he turned out to be such a great guy or else I would have not let him leave with them...and the deal is that when/if he tires of them, I will buy them back. So Jerry spent the night.....we packed up the speakers in his SUV and away he went....

Spent a lovely afternoon with the TLW....man, I love that broad. What she married me for is a total mystery.....

So then I load up the Toyota with a few new LP's....a Manley Shrimp preamp and trek back to NC. The neighbor said that the street and my driveway is pretty icy. Hey, I'm from Maine. I know ice....no problem. WRONG. Holy SHIITE. My driveway/lawn is a SHEET of ice about 4 inches thick....oh, and it's a pretty steep incline. So, park the car on the street. No f*cking way I'm getting up the driveway....or the lawn. I had to walk up my neighbors driveway.....then jump the fence into my yard, while carrying the dog. It's the damndest thing I've ever seen. I busted my **** three times trying to get up the driveway and lawn. Eff me...and the poor dog, he has NO idea what the hell this all is.

Hey, did I mention what a cool guy Jerry is? He really needs to get more involved here!

Cool deal. And not "ice on my driveway" cool either.

I'd like to hear what wrecked your golf swing.

Who the hell is Jerry? Probably indicative of his level of involvement and why it is being called for an increase.

Not me! There are some things that should never appear in a photograph...and I'm not talking about the dog.

well sorry you are getting the kind of cold icy winters we usually get this time of year.. while we are enjoying some sun but still cool. but no snow.

and yeah who is Jerry? sorry you decided to get rid of the SDA's, it's sad to see them go out the door.. but we're all just keepers of them, till they move on to another person to enjoy them.

Guys,,Jerry is jerryj12 (screename), I first met him about a year and a half ago when he picked up a Dennon 2910 that I had for sale.He has been a very good friend ever since. He has really got his audio learn in overdrive,,he has gone from a nice HT solid state system to a couple of 2 ch rigs.I'll let him tell you about them. He,he,, he does not post post that much because when he's home he's jammin. So yesterday afternoon,,I get the call, and meet him at his house,,one young guy,and 1 old guy(me) totin' the 2.3tl's upstairs,,, so we move the 1C's from their place of honor,,quickly make up a pair of jumpers,, warm up the Cary 120S,,Belles 20a,,Jolida,,,and wait,,lol,, what 5 mins,, I was able to listen to about 3 songs when It was time for me to go,,how do they sound,,, very authoritive, quite revealing and at the same time very intimate,,with tight bass that you can hear,,,and feel,, when I left,he had a smile so big that it will require a plastic surgeon to remove it.I'm very happy for him, cause I've been able to be a part, and share in his audio journey. He is in fact a great guy,,a real friend,,you know the type,, the kind of person that you don't mind loaning a piece of gear to audition, cause you know you'll get it back in as good or maybe better shape than you loaned it in.as far as posting,,it might be kinda difficult since he got his new toy,,but I know where he be,,he,he--good on you Jerry,, a good example of what a Club Polk member is all about.

Well, I wasn't rotating my torso through the ball.....basically, I was swinging through the ball with my arms and my upper body was stuck behind. At least that's what it felt like. I mean, I have been playing 'decent' but I used to hit the ball pretty high and VERY straight. I couldn't miss with the driver.

Well, about 2-3 years ago, I started duck hooking.....and I couldn't stop it. Well, I finally got it to where I could keep it on the lot...but I couldn't hit fairways with any regularity, I'd lost some distance and I was hitting the ball much lower.

Well, I was practicing my short game friday and I was hitting some lob shots over a bunker....well, anyway, long story short...I had an 'aha' moment...I went to the range, hit a bucket and there I was. I just pictured rotating my chest and arms through the shot together.....what it actually looks like may be different, but that's what I'm envisioning.

At my old house I had about a 50' incline from the front door to the street and the same situation. I got really pissed after making it most of the way and ending up back in the middle of the street on my **** a few times. Somehow taking my shoes and socks off allowed me to make it. Damn cold too!

Hi my name is Jerry and I have an addiction to audio. :D

Troy, you and Wendy made me feel like part of the family. If anyone has not had the pleasure of meeting these two people, you really don't know what you are missing. I hope you will will come to Atlanta and let me try to return the favor. We will cook for you, but I will never be able to top a pot roast like that in my life. GREAT Stuff!!! I wish the world was full of people like you two.
I cant thank you enough for selling the 2.3s to me. I promise to take good care of them and they will never leave my house unless you know about it. I have had my heart set on a pair since Jessie talked to me about them last year.

I am cleaning up the Man Cave and hope to have some pics up tonight.

I have made many great friends here. There is nothing like a great support group for an audioholic like my self. Thank you all very much. Sorry I don't post much. I sometimes think my posts are not very good and by the time I read them 7 thousand times I talk my self out of posting it all together. :) I don't there is a day that goes by that I don't visit here and get my read on.
    O crap, am I a lurker?

Pics up soon. With more updates.

Thanks again Troy and Wendy for a fantastic weekend.

Since that slacker BDT never played them I'm glad you got 'em. It also gives me hope that the crossovers will finally get upgraded.
