I am looking to buy some polk speakers and my budget is $500max. Getting the best deal is important to me lol. What is the cheapest you guys have seen the TSI A5 for? I know it has been down to $300 a speaker but have you guys seen it for less and where? Can i call polk direct to haggle a price or something? lol. Any speaker you would recommend over the TSI A5? I have 2 velodyne dps-10 subs i am running so i dont have to have big woofers on the speaker

Lol the great debate: tsi 500 or rti a5. Well i have 2 decent subwoofers so that is a pro towards rti a5. Rti a5 looks amazing! Is there a price difference? Hmm my subs have a shiny piano finish just like the tops of the tsi500s though. So what is the cheapest you guys have seen the rti a5? Also doesnt polk direct from ebay only offer a 2 year warranty?

Mainly for home theater. I am going to be buying a new receiver as soon as i can find a good deal. Looking at the denon avr-790 or onkyo tx-sr607. I am not sure does the 790 have preouts? I looked on the back of one and it was not labled as preoout. I have a really nice pioneer elite m-72 in my possession right now but i am supposed to be selling it for my neighbor. Wish i had all my equipment right now so i could test it out. A 2 year warranty and a chance of receiving one with blemishes is riskier than a 5 year warranty and new, it might be worth $100 more for me if i could find a good price on new ones.

well i have to stick around the $300 (can go a little more) for the new receiver if i want to get the rti a5s. Yeah i have heard nothing but good things about polk direct. Wont one of these entry level receivers do a decent job of running these speakers?

Depends on how big your room is and how loud you like your music.

My room is just my bedroom so it is really not that big and i like my movies lot but not overly loud. My guess is i would be fine. I just cannot get over how beautiful the rti a5s are. Someone within an hours drive has a pair of cherry rti10s in like new condition for $375

If you can afford them, the rtia5's are hands down the way to go for H/T. As mentioned, you want a good avr to compliment them. I have been extreamly happy with mine.

Reno where did you get yours and how much did you pay if you do not mind me asking? I really just cant spend more than 350 on a receiver right now. I have a onkyo dr-c500 receiver i could use until i saved up...

The onkyo works okay. When there is no output on the back speakers there is very minor noise and the remote you have to be within like 4 feet to use. Also the connectors on the back are the push kind not the screw kind. It is a dvd receiver, it was arround $600 new in 2003 i got it for $35 on craigslist, the guy didnt think it worked. The LSi7s? Bookshelf speakers? No way i love the looks of the polk tower speakers.

Yeah i believe it plays cds and dvds fine. I have never used it for that because i use my ps3. Good recommendation on the hk avr 254 i will keep my eye on that receiver too. I have $75 in amazon gift certificates so i would not mind using those towards a receiver but dont know if that will happen. Might just have to use that for new speaker wire (if i am doing 7.2) and another hdmi

I just purchased RTiA5's and CSiA6 center. Connected them to an HK3600avr. You might want to check out the HK1600. Best way to decide is to demo speakers and avr together. HK makes the RTiA5's sound Sweet.

Stole them at Frys. Got the 5's for $219 each and the center for $119. All in cherry and new. They had quoted me the center price over the phone for a floor model. When I got there and opened the box, it was new. FYI, they are probably out of stock by now. Call JR electronics for best price on 1600. Good luck.

My vote goes to the Harman. Also, look for the A5's on Polkdirect, mine were $480 shipped, and the shipping was close to $100. Get the AVR 254, and set some money aside for a nice used amp when one pops up here or on CL. My Carver 505 is only rated at 80WPC, but it makes my RTiA5's sing. Good luck and welcome to Club Polk, you'll love those A5's.

I have the A5's and the CSiA4 center. I am using a HK 254 with them and i am very happy with them. I do say that you need to get a good sub for the HT part of the system but i think they sound great in 2 channel. Keep an eye out on polk direct and also check out fry's as mentioned before.

I would save and get the RTiA series over the TSI or monitors. I just think they are a nicer speaker.

Just got back from abcwarehouse. Best they had was the tsi400. They sounded great but i really didnt care for the looks of them, they were sort of small. Yeah polk direct does not have any rta a5s for sale right now.

Domflane how long ago did you get those? Also do you always have to pay tax through polk direct? Can i call up polk direct or do i just have to wait for an auction of a5s to run through?

I bought my reciever a year ago used on Canuck Audio Mart. At the time I paid $800.00 shipping included. Like I say, I have been very happy. I recieved my avr in mint condition and its a beast. Loads of power.

Anyway, look around, sometimes you find a gem used.

Just got lucky mate. I am sure they are out of stock by now. Frys had cherry Polks on sale for some time. I located my stuff in their L.A. store and had my brother pick up since I live in San Diego. The CSiA6 center was the real steal. I almost feel guilty getting it for $119. Newegg seems to have consistent deals on Polk equip. Just keep checking into their website until you see what you are looking for on sale. Again, good luck.

    Blu,
I bought them on November 2, and I cant remember if I paid tax, but I want to say no. The pirce I paid was a buy it now price. It was definately less than $200 a speaker, because the shipping was about $100 and the total was less than $500. You basically have to be patient. Another pair will come up, and when they do, jump on them. There's RTi8's on there now for $360 plus $100 shipping. Not many RTiA's on there now at all it seems, but these things are cyclical. They'll be back . . .

wow you have given me inspiration domflane. I am going to be hyped if i can get these for under 500. I can get a pair of rti10s locally for $350 but they just are not as pretty as the rtia 5s
