I know that this a polk forum but has anyone had a chance to listen to the MartinLogan Source speakers?

Has anyone listened to the MartinLogan preface?

There is really no where around me to listen to these speakers. The nearest dealer is out of state.

If someone has listened to them, what are your thoughts on them?

I had some time ago "martin logan" and "quad". the electrostatic speakers is excellent, my preference is Quad. PolkAudio LSi series is now at home and are a good alternative to electrostatic. I recommend a place that specializes in hearing them.

Thank you for the input. I am leaning towards trying the Magnepans for the price. The Martinlogans are expensive and I can return the Magnepans MMG if I do not like them. The martinlogans would have a restocking fee plus the cost of shipping them back.

I may wait on the Martinlogans, since it would be a 4 hour drive to go listen to them. It sounds like they have a sound that some people like and others can live without.

I listened to the Martin Logan Preface at Magnolia and I was impressed. A very musical and smooth sounding speaker. They are on sale at Frys.com. I think they are $499 each. At that price they get under the value for money radar. Definitely worth a listen.

The Source is a good primer on the positives and negatives of an ESL. Yes, there are negatives, just like any speaker. One just has find the right balance.

I would think if your going to spend 2K on speakers they would be worth the drive.
