i finally decided my tv speakers werent cutting it and am currently upgrading...i already have an onkyo ht-rc160 and four monitor 30s for my surrounds

i am now ready to buy my fronts and center...after doing a little bit of research, it seems you want the timbre to match in the fronts and center

i am planning on getting the cs1 and didnt know if those matched better with the monitor 50s or 60s...any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks in advance!

Welcome to Club Polk. Either of those will match the cs1. Funds and space permitting....I'd recommend the bigger cs2 though.

i thought i read somewhere that the cs2 doesnt match well with the 50s/60s, only the 70s...is this not the case?

Like anton said the CS2 is the way to go, you dont want to skimp on the center channel if you have room.

+1, the center is the most important speaker in your HT, IMHO. You won't regret the CS2.

    QUESTION

I just purchased the CS10 for $129 at Newegg and planned on going with the TSi series of fronts. However just the other day I pulled the trigger (quickly) on a pair the Monitor 70b speakers from Newegg on sale for $179.

Regarding the timbre matching...does the CS10 match with the 70's? I know the CS2 is the ideal match...should I know return the CS10 and get the CS2???

I would strongly suggest you get the CS2. The CS10 as you said is technically the timbre match for the TSi series, although the two have been interchanged with some success from what I have read. IMHO, the CS1/CS10 will have a hard time keeping up with those 70's. I run a CS2 with my 70's and the sound is great. That CS2 is massive though, so make sure you have room for it first.

Thanks Jeff...the CS2 it is then...especially with the promo code that is floating around here. Being a Newegg Preferred customer...the final price was $107 free shipping.

re: your size comment...in my head I was thinking...heck...I have the CS10 here...it can't be bigger than that. Well...it sure is...by 1 lb and and 1" in every direction...lord...I will have a problem...but a good problem it is :D

$107? Man, you can't beat that with a stick, good buy. You will love that CS2 and yeah, it is a beast and can be hard to fit, but trust me it is worth it.

which center do you guys suggest for the following?
    front rt10's
    surround owm3's
    surround back r1's
    psw150 sub
i'm looking at either the cs10 or cs20. obviously i'd love one of the higher end centers, but money is an object.
