Well here is my situation, I have an Onkyo TX-SR805 with 130 WPC and Monitor 60s and a CS2 center channel. I plan on buying the RTi12s for my fronts and using Monitor 60s as the rears.

The problem is my Onkyo 805 doesn't push my Monitors very well at all. I tried messing with the phase and it doesn't help. The highs are awesome but it dosen't really push the 3- 5 1/2 in woofers. Is there a way to use an external amp in place of the front two channels? What are some good brands?

I really need something with more power to push them and if I get those RTi12s, then I definately need more power. There are so many brands with over-inflated power ratings that I don't know what I should get.

    i've got a Yamaha RX-V665 90wpc that pushes 60's pretty well, have you checked all your connections?.. but yes an external amp will help too as you do have preouts on the avr
    Main 2ch -
    BlueSound Node->Ethereal optical cable->Peachtree Audio Nova 150->GoldenEar Triton 2+
    TT - Pro-ject Classic SB with Sumiko Bluepoint.

    TV 3.1 system -
    Denon 3500 -> Dynaudio Excite 32/22

    Nice set up, sounds pretty similiar to mine. Well I have them bi-amped, and 10 gage wire running to them. I even ran the lines to make sure the negatives are to the negatives.

    Then I thought well maybe it is my receiver, well I bought it off Amazon from a Milo Electronics (not an authorized Onkyo Dealer which means no warranty whatsoever) and took it in to be check out. Well 256 dollars later the resistors where changed per a service bulletin but nothing was wrong with it.

    I am at a loss why they are being pushed... I have spent way too much trying to get them pushed already. I hooked up my old box set Onkyo receiver which pushes 100 WPC and they woke up lots with mid and lower base. I am absolutely puzzled at why my super awesome 130 WPC aren't pushing them.

    The highs sound amazing but very little mids. I just figured that an amp would work but I am lost when it comes to that.

    I was looking at Pyle Pro amps but they seem fishy, 2000 watts for 200 bucks? Onkyo sells amps that are 100 watts for like 500 bucks. . . What is the deal with that?

    I would check your AVR again and see what your cross over setting is for your mains. If you have a high cross over point the bass will go to your sub (if your using one) rather then being feed to your front mains.
    Also its not about WATTS at all, its about the quality of the watts. your speakers are pretty efficient, so it shouldn't take that much to drive them to a pretty high output unless your in a stadium.
    If you want to look at brands for amps, adcom, rotel, parasound, ect are good choices. adcom used have some very good deals, as well as rotel. parasound gets to be a little bit more for newer stuff but they are still very nice amps.

    Thanks for the help. I hadn't heard of those brands, I will have to check them out. That makes sense with the crossover, I had messed with the bass dbs on all the channels with very little results but if it was being bypassed that would make sense. I have a sub but it is a crappy little 8in one from an old box set, upgrading soon.

    I will try and get into the crossover settings and mess with it from there. I figured there had to be something going on, Onkyo 130 WPC means 130 WPC unlike some manufactures and the Monitor 60s should be lit up.
