I'm looking at this vehicle w/ 80k miles, and am wondering what, if any issues to be looking for/ forward to/ be concerned with?
This is basically the vehicle I've been wanting for a while, and the price seems more than reasonable($7k), but...I'm paranoid with getting a lemon:o
Thanks for any assistance:)

Do a google search looking for transmission and coolant problems. Not sure about the 2001 but the 99 I had followed suit with what I read on the net.

I think it's a good vehicle, but if you can find a newer one (TrailBlazer) that would probably be more reliable.

we've got a 2000, the vortek 4.3 is almost bulletproof as long as it gets its oil changed every few months. a common problem with these trucks is the 4wd sensor goes bad and will leave you stuck in 2 or 4, but its a fairly cheap fix. ours has over 100k miles and we've replaced everything from brake lines to door hinges. nothing unusual for a truck with this many miles. on the upside they are easy to work on

I just spent $45 for a Carfax report, and found out this things a YANKEE car. 2 years in OH, then the 7 in IL, and the most recent owner just bought it last Oct.

THAT is not a good sign:( And no mention of trans. replacement, which means it might be due:mad:

I had a 2001 Blazer. Not the ZR2. I had alot of suspension problems, leaking gas tank and some other problems. I was glad to get rid of it.

Well I just spent $278 for a set of brakes and front wheel bearings. Not TOO painful.
The guy recommended rotors as well, but I thought rotors should last at least a 100k?
My 2002 S10 only has 52k on it?

Check the front end....it probably needs 4 ball joints, an idler arm and a pitman arm. See if the auto parts store will give you a discount if you buy ball joints by the dozen.

IL gets as much snow as OH. I would definately check out kbb.com as 7k sounds HIGH to me for that vehicle. I have a 2000 4 door blazer and paid 8k for it like 3 years ago...LT 4x4 50k miles. And yes, if it has the "special pink antifreeze" it can be a special treat. I forget what its called like dexcool or something just google and see the complaints. and yes the brakes kill me on this one too. I would not trade...knew what I was getting into...my 2 cents.

Hahah, and those aren't cheap rotors either... I burn through a set of Brembo Blanks to the tune of about 2 sets every 3 years.

It's not a regular street car. ;) It sees track and autox abuse, and the pads that i use are REALLY hard on rotors.

But you're more than welcome to be a passenger, you might have a blast!
