Up for sale are my pride and joy - Polk Audio RT1000p and CS400 speakers. These speakers were custom refinished in RED CHESTNUT (looks beautiful).

I know it's a long shot posting on this forum, since I am Toronto, Canada. The speakers are for local pick up only. No shipping.

Currently hooked up to my Carver C-1 pre-amplifier and Dynaco ST-70 tube amplifier for demonstration.

The towers feature 6.5" woofers and tri-laminate tweeters, as well as built-in 80-Watt subwoofers (6.5").

CS400 is a perfect match for the RT1000p - features two 6.5" woofers and a tri-laminate tweeter.

The center channel can be biwired or biamped. Towers can be biwired (the built-in subwoofer is powered on its own).

Listed price: $500 CDN firm (that's around 470 USD nowdays). Local Polkies will get a discount - PM me.

Specifications:
* Designed for superior home theater and music performance
* Ground shaking bass from a built-in internal 6.5" subwoofer in a patented High Velocity Compression Drive band-pass enclosure, with a downward-firing Power Port for low distortion; great performance even from low power receivers
* Easily accessed front panel-mounted Subwoofer level control lets you adjust bass volume to best suit your system, room and taste
* Low level (RCA type) subwoofer inputs
* Composite Dynamic Balance Driver Cone for wide response and low distortion
* Dynamic Balance Tri-Laminate Tweeter technology, with vapor deposited micro-layers of stainless steel and aluminum for clear, detailed highs
* Available in three natural wood finishes, each standard and at no extra cost: Maple, Cherry and Black Oak
* Magnetically shielded for safe placement next to your TV without picture interference
* Anti-diffraction driver bezel minimizes grille diffraction for open, spacious, 3-dimensional imaging
* Slim tower design conserves floor space, the RT1000 occupies less than 1 square foot
* Gold-plated 5-way binding post inputs for the most secure wire connections
* Adjustable leveling feet/carpet spikes for the ultimate stability on any type of floor

CS400 Specifications:
* Magnetic shielding for safe placement on or near your TV without fear of picture interference
* Exceptional bass response from a rear-firing Power Port venting system built into the speaker's back plate
* Dynamic Balance drivers for wide response and low distortion
* Dynamic Balance Tri-Laminate tweeter technology, with vapor deposited micro-layers of stainless steel and aluminum for detailed highs
* Fluid cooled tweeter provides the high power handling essential for center channel speakers
* Anti-diffraction bezel and grille system minimizes grille-edge reflections for more open, spacious, lifelike imaging
* Smooth, natural midrange reproduction thanks to patented Acoustic Resonance Control technology
* Low profile design for unobtrusive placement on top of your TV
* Cascade Tapered Driver Array maintains wide horizontal dispersion so that every listener in the room hears clear, detailed sound
* Timbre matched to other Polk speakers for seamless imaging
* Available in Black finish to match most TV cabinets
* Gold-plated 5-way binding post inputs for the most secure wire connections

A great Center Channel Speaker is a critical component of any home theater system. It could be the hardest working speaker in any system because it delivers over 50% of a film's soundtrack information: dialog, effects, music... Everything is anchored to the screen image by your center channel's performance. That's why you need a serious Center Channel Speaker for your serious home theater.

I think he meant that crappy ugly rubbery material that covers the entire from of the RT1000p. Good sharp exacto knife really helps. Then a lot of sanding and some acetone to remove all the glue from underneath.

I am considering doing the same to mine. After removing the the rubbery foam material, was it actual wood under it or did you apply a veneer? With the sides did you just sand it?

These speakers have no wood, you'll have to remove the rubber foam from the front and sand paper-ish finish on the sides, then apply veneer all-around. It's not very hard, just follow the instructions for contact cement to the letter, that was my lesson learned.
