saw a very tempting post
http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/160310-polk_audio_monitor_10b_speakers_/

not that far away from me if my frd can drive me. i was thinking something for my computer desk.

the only thing im afraid is that these are too big for close range listening (30cm away from each speaker)

how do they sound compare to lsi7 or paradigm studio 10/20?

I don't think you realize what you are looking at. 10b's are "huge" when thinking computer speakers. We are talking about 12 inches deep, about 17 wide and 28 tall. Those are home stereo speakers.

I'm not even sure that a pc could make them do anything (power wise)

I think yer gonna need a bigger desk.

A PC really won't make anything do anything. ;)

Just buy a nice used stereo receiver for about 40 bucks to push those puppies and you'll be ready to rock, lol. Your soundcard has a 1/8" female jack for outputting 2 channel sound for headphones or running a y cable with 1'8" male stereo phone plug --L+R rca male connectors to your receiver's L+R tape input or another input of your choice.

Even with a big desk, these would be the exact opposite of what you'd want to use if you're going to be 30cm away.

10Bs as nearfield computer monitors....sure if you've got a power amp hooked to your PC and an 8' desk! But a foot away...they won't image right at that distance--too close!

The guys are right...those are floor speakers. Buy them if you want a decent pair of L/R stereo speakers but don't expect to get much sound out of them without a real power source (AVR or AMP).

I would say LSi7's would be ideal.
