    Usher D2 Horn speakers.

My cousin has these being pushed my Manley Mono-blocks and MBL Transport/DAC

I was speechless when I first heard them.

The below pic isnt his actual set but they are massive. 600lbs each

I also loved the AR-9's I heard with a Mark Levinson amp way back when, spooky good in the bass, the clip lights flashing too, those speakers can destroy an amp

Back in the early '80s I had the pleasure of listening to a pair of Acoustats (don't know the model but they were perhaps 10 or 12 inches wide and nearly 8 feet high) set up in a hyper-optimized listening space, fed with a couple of big Mark Levinson monoblocks thru their flagship preamp at the time. Source was a loaded to the max Linn LP12 and the music was an LP of a "minimalist" style female vocalist. Never caught either her name or the name of the album...sounded not unlike some slower numbers by Oleta Adams I've heard since. It was an uber-specialty system for sure which would no doubt have sucked for a considerable range of music styles. For this particular piece of music it was nothing short of mind boggling -- the sonic counterpart of accounts of hallucinogen users being able to "taste" colors, etc, etc..

...and, no, I'd had nothing stronger than a cup of coffee and a cinnamon roll beforehand!

So far, my SRS's have given me the most pleasurable listening experience. I've heard a lot of better sounding stuff, but I've never enjoyed it like i have with mine. Although I think the Linkwitz Labs Orions couldve been better, but I only heard them at low levels and the sounded incerdibly detailed even at really low levels. really precise. But I'm hoping to go listen to some Wilson Audio MAXX 2's next weekend at a friends house. Also I still really want to get my ears on a set of Emerald Physics CS2.3's
design is where science and art break even.

The best sound I have ever heard was a looooong time ago at a Stereophile show back in the mid 90's. Wilson Watt Puppy 5's! (told you it was awhile ago) There was about 25 audiophiles crowded into the room and the closest spot to the sweetspot I could get to, was the doorway (which was 6' to the side of the sweetspot). The sound that started up...was astounding! I could literally see the musicians in the room with all of us!

...If only I was the one who invented Facebook, then I could have owned those and many other versions (8 now I think)....and the heroic gear along with it that requires for them to sound good.

Yeah the E100's are Bostons statement speakers ,not many reviews on them but the one's that are out there are positive. The last time they made statment speakers was the Lynfield project in the late 90's which lead to the 3 models for the high end and later trickeled down to the Lynfield vr series. The E series was introduced in 2006 with the E100 as the flagship, It stands over 6ft tall has 10 drivers and is constructed of extruded aluminium each speaker weighs in at 120 lbs, Boston makes and designs there own drivers. They are stunning to look at and to hear, here's the driver layout (6) 5 1/4 woofers with 2 inch voice coils cast aluminium baskets, one 5 1/4 mid bass driver, 3 1/4 midrange driver and 2 Vrh aluminium dome tweeters ane front one for rear ambience price was around $7500 a pair. So yeah! Boston Acoustics:biggrin:
