Chris Botti - Night SessionI am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

What really surprises me is that none of Supertramp's material was done in SACD or DVD-A. Supertramp's (Crime of the Century) was one of MFSL's better sellers and their (supertramp's) mastering was very clean. Then again we can sit around all day and wonder why many many artist's material was never done in one of the high-rez medium's, I know I have.
I have the original LP that I bought in 1978 and it sounds awesome. I also own the 180gm pressing. "Crime of the Century" would have made one hell of an SACD. -
Brothers In Arms was mentioned...in post #20. I've been told it is a great SACD. Unfortunately I don't own a SACD copy of it.
I must really need my eyes checked. I surely missed it. -

+1 on Crime of the Century. Even the Goldbook CD is a clean mix - but a SACD could be glorious.
How does the 180g LP compare to the original LP?
H9: If you don't trust what you are hearing, then maybe you need to be less invested in a hobby which all the pleasure comes from listening to music. -

It has a lower noise floor and more bass response. As far a soundstage and imaging goes I would say it is slightly better but it really reveals the inner detail probably due to the lower noise floor. -

You should hear the 180 gm pressing of this, it's awesome. I would imagine so is the SACD. -

As much as I wanted to set up my turntable, I fear that vinyl will be another drain on my meager income -
I've got that one in redbook (HDCD if I'm not mistaken), and it's a great sounding CD. So much I don't think the SACD would be THAT much better.
Keep them coming!!_________________________________________________

well if your talking supertramp i hate to disagree. I think a 5.1 of some of their music would of taken it to a WHOLE new level. I also have the MFSL and a very good best of and love them both. -
I'm talking about Time Out._________________________________________________

Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds on SACD. Amazing. Sir Richard Burton narrating. If the title doesn't ring a bell, you may have heard "Thunder Child" or "Forever Autumn" on radio in the early 90's.
Never heard of Jeff? He produced David Essex's "Rock On" album. My 7.4.4 DIY 4k Home Theater:

If the CD you're talking about is the remastered "Time Out", it's indeed a HDCD despite not marked either on the packaging nor the disc. However, the HDCD also appear as the CD layer on the imported hybrid SACD of "Time Out"....

Ricardo,
If you have Microsoft Media Player, put your CD of "Time Out" into your computer and let the CD play. Once it started, click on "Pause", then "Play" again....you should see a small HDCD icon within Media Player, which is telling you that it's decoding your HDCD. -
