I got this little guy from a person that thought "oh he's so cute". They had no thought of the time it takes to train and how much attention a puppy needs. He's about 3 months old and never had a bath a brushing or any shots all that will be remedied asap. He's adjusting to the other 3 dogs and the rabbit quicker than I could have guessed. The daughters love him and he wanted to sleep with them last night but he stayed with the other dogs for his first night. He didn't even make a peep just cuddled in a went to sleep.

My wife and I use to breed chows many years ago before moving to the boxer family. Probably the only bad thing I have ever said about the breed is the shedding of hair, man it drove me crazy. Seemed like ever time I swept the floor which was at least once a week it looked like I swept up a small rabbit. They are a very hard headed bred until you get them trained but once they are trained, God for bid someone try and touch you or your family. I'll never forget the day I came home from work and when pulling down in my cul-de-sac at my old house the propane truck was parked in front of my house. I thought to myself, man, they usually come early in the morning and not only that, they usually call first. Yeah, when I got out of my car I heard that treaded, "HELP, someone please help me"! I nearly died expecting the worse. When I ran around the front of the house to the side where the tank was, which was behind a chain-link fence they was the propane man, standing on top of the tank with my three chows at the time circling the tank like sharks. A quick snap of the fingers and all three laid down. Off the tank he came and not a one of the chows even looked at him. When asked why he didn't just call me from his phone said it was the one day he left it at home but promised that would never happen again. Said he got to my house at 10:30 and it was now 5:30. Wasn't too funny (at least for him) at the time but I LMAO everytime I think about it now. Very, very loyal bred and they will have your back 110%.

My American Eskimo is exactly the same way... She loves her family to death and will die trying to protect her family and her home. I did not raise her or train her to be this way. It's just the way she is wired.

    That is friggin funny!

BTW I showed my wife the picture of your pup because he's so cute and asked her if we can get one to keep my pooch company. Her reply, "are you out of your mind, I pass the vacuum everyday and I get tumbleweeds EVERYDAY from our own hairball!" I guess I'm going to have to settle for a short haired breed.

My dog is half black lab, half border collie and sheds like crazy no matter how many times he's brushed.

I'm use to the hair as my other dogs are mini american eskies and a lab X huskey. I was really worried about my female eskies as she rules the roost but the Aj (chow) just gave right back to her and they seem fine. Aj did try to mount her earlier to dominate her but backed off real quick. The pecking order is getting established. When I rescued the eskies I was told they bit everybody but since we've had them going on 5 years have never bit anyone. I feel most people just buy puppies cause their cute and don't do any research on the breed. Chows and eskies can be challenging but are great pets. Its funny that alot of folks on here have had the same breeds of dogs. My first dog as an adult was a boxer. Then my lab X huskey, american eskimos, and now a chow all loyal protective breeds.

know that aj's been here for a couple days he seems to be settling in and starting to show some personality. I forgot what its like having something always on your heels. He's put me down a couple times and then goes for the face lick.

The more I read this thread the more I am convinced I need another puppy.
