Anyone playing this yet? From what i've played so far it's got some nice changes to gameplay, but the rest of the game is pretty much the same.

All in all I like it.

Same as Mass Effect (1). Same style of quests/story-line, same types of weapons, etc.

Been playing it since about 6 p.m. yesterday. They didn't reinvent the wheel, but they definitely streamlined what was there before. And the audio is outstanding on my 9.2 setup!

My only gripe is that my Mass Effect 1 save isn't showing up in the import screen, and the only solution anyone has found is to put ME1 in, re-play the end battle, then you should be good. And that's great... if I still owned Mass Effect 2 years after I beat it. I tried playing ME2 for about 4 hours with their from-scratch defaults, but it seems like they chose every possible negative choice (i.e. Ashley's alive, council wasn't saved, etc.). So today, I repurchased ME1 just so I can get my original data back... because playing ME2 with the defaults is like reading a sequel to your favorite novel where everything you remember has completely changed.

Shame on Bioware and EA for putting that data in the 360's cache area of the HDD instead of in a save file. Anyone who has swapped hard drives, used a MU to transfer saves, changed gamertags, etc. is hosed unless they still have Mass Effect.

I had thought about playing through ME1 again, since I long ago removed it...but decided it would be too much of a hassle. Although I did play through the game twice before...once just to do it, and the 2nd time for the **** scene!

    Well worth it IMO.

I played through ME 1 on the 360 because the PC version wasn't released at the same time. Now I want to get ME 2 for the PC but I won't have my import. I do have a copy of ME 1 for the PC that a buddy gave me but I've yet to play through it again. I think I'm going to wait to buy ME 2 until I load up and play through the PC version of 1. Looks great though and I cant wait to play it.

Now the only games I'm waiting for is Diablo 3, SC2, Bioshock 2, and Assassin's Creed 2 (can't believe I have to wait till March for that game...)

I lucked out. Bought ME1, loaded my last save, re-played the battle with Saren, and then I was able to import my character into ME2. I had already played about 4 hours of ME2 with Bioware's defaults, and when I replayed it with my imported file, it was WAY different. Very cool that even little decisions from 1 change the story in 2... when you can get it to work. :)

I got this link from Penny Arcade http://www.annakie.com/me/home.htm If you play the PC version and don't have a previous save file, you can use one of these saves to get your ME2 Shepard like your ME 1 Shepard. There are a lot of options to choose from so I may go this route instead of re-playing ME 1 again.

i would agree that its a more stream-lined version of the game.. more emphasis on cover and staying un-hit rather than more cool powers to use. Which is ok with me, adding a bunch of crazy new powers probably would have ruined the game for me.

Its a little more tactical than ME1, but not done near as welll as other games have done it.. but I enjoyed it none-the-less, and currently on my second playthrough, so that must count for something.

I'm ashamed to admit... I've only played the first two hours of the game so far. Friends got me sidetracked playing Rock Band 2 and the new Borderlands DLC (which is AWESOME!), plus I got Bioshock 2. Probably gonna burn through Bioshock 2 first, then go back to ME2 before Splinter Cell Conviction comes out.

Mass Effect 2 is a tricky beast. On one hand it is a true RPG in the sense that you are playing the role as Shepard and *gasp* the choices you make actually have a meaningful impact on how that character and the world around it progresses. To that effect, ME2 will receive no end of praise from me for it is the first of its kind to make me weigh the consequences of my decision. Mechanically...it plays out like a more tactical Gears of War.

Completed it. All the people I choose survived. Good game but to be honest I really don't like RPG's. Graphics were great.

I'm on my 2nd playthrough and am still enjoying it. Getting a little tired of some of the conversation trees. If I do it again, I think I'll just go all Renegade to avoid all the detail.

I haven't completed it yet, but i'm about to go through the fancy relay. However, I DID just accidentally stumble upon a possible "nookie" situation between my Shepard and Garrus...interesting.

I agree, it was way too easy. I also think the story line wasn't nearly was thought-out and concise as the first game. Though, it's still an exceptional story compared to most of the crap thrown into video games these days. That being said, I still enjoyed the gameplay and the game in general (though the first was a more enjoyable total experience). Fallout 1&2 anyone?

As a male you can get it on with Miranda, Jack and Tali (kind of funny). You can get a suggested bit with Kelly (if you're not attached and have flirted with her) and you do the last mission quick enough that she survives. As a female, it's Jacob (who shows the most skin, Garrus and Kelly (no skin). As you can see, I've played this one some. I tried to do Samara and got close, but if you're a bad enough Renegade and save her kid (Morinth?) by helping her kill Samara and joining you in her place, you can hook up after the last mission...wouldn't recommend it if you want to import the character into ME3 :D. I found the story compelling, very well developed and the voice acting top notch. I wasn't thrilled with the female Shepard, but the guy, with the right custom character, seemed spot on. All the other characters were terrific. I haven't tried ME1 yet, but I'm looking around for it.

There's a new character and loyalty mission available for purchase through the Cerberus network connected to EA. It's $10.00. The character, Kasumi, is a theif Infiltrator, with a new, accurate at distance submachine gun, that all SMG class squad members can use. The character is quite powerful and also has a couple of new powers. She goes invisible and seems to instantly get behind enemy lines, pops a couple, then zips back into your party. She's like Zaeed, in that you have no conversation trees, just comments when on a mission or random comments in her quarters. She's fun though.

Mass effect triolgy is not exclusive to Xbox 360. It would be a descrace to Bioware and the game. I need to play Mass Effects again to get a character ready to import into Mass Effects 2. I never got the assault rifle unlocked for all characters, need to do that..
