Monitor 40s with 80hz sub cutoff, ok?

I am thinking about getting a pair of Monitor 40s (or RTi4s or RTi6s) for my front speakers (don't have room for towers unfortunately). I have a BIC H-100 sub which recommends an 80hz cutoff. The M40 spec -3db down point is 57hz so, in theory, it should be ok with an 80hz cutoff. Can any M40 owners (or owners of other speakers with similar low end response) confirm this? (I asked about the M40 vs RTi4 or 6 in another thread so I know where the group stands on that choice ;) )

I am currently running the 40's as fronts with the sub set at an 80hz cutoff.
With the room it's in, everything blends very well. I do not sense there is anything missing in the low end of the forty's.

In fact just the opposite, I think they really have some reach at the bottom end considering their size.

My Monitor 30s were detected as having a -3dB point near 50Hz according to Audyssey. I'm currently running them at 80Hz though, so you should be good to go.

80hz is a standard cut-off for M bookshelves even though Kuntasensei is correct...most Ms will go a bit below 60hz...

+3 on 80hz, that is what THX recommends (take that with a grain of salt) and it's also where I have all of my speakers set to as well. I have the 40's as my surrounds and they have yet to dissapoint. I even hooked them up as mains one time just to see what they could do, and they didn't dissapoint. Set them to 80hz and have a listen, try 60hz and see which one you like better.

Even though I have the M70's front CS2 center and the M40's for suround My Audyssey is set at 80Hrz for the sub.. Just for fun I hooked my 40's up to the fronts / Mains and was surprized at how well they sounded for a bookshelf speaker. My amp was set to large speaker..
    P.S.
I need to update my profile as i have just bought a new onkyo tx-sr608.

Hate to do this to you, but the Monitor 50's have just gone on sale for $89.99 ea. at Newegg, lol. They would be about $30 more for a set of those, as compared to the Monitor 40's. Don't know if you care for floorstanders for your surrounds, but there are many people here who run those and they love em. Link below, don't worry about the $99.99 price tag, that is before the promo code. Just an idea.

I found the same thing, they seemed to become warmer, maybe fuller so to speak. Took maybe 30 to 50 hours of hard play time. I have cranked the pee out mine and will say they are the best bang for the buck I've put out on a audio purchase. Also tried mine @60hz cutoff and think they sounded even better. But with my surrounds and the THX thing I returned the rig to 80.

Sadly (but maybe not so sad) these are to be retired at the young age of two months old.... more to come.

Unfortunately, my room layout/setup will not allow tower speakers as fronts or rears. My better half wouldn't be too keen on those either. :D I know I'll be happy with the 40s.
