Sub Woofer Hookup

Hello,
I'm putting my system together in stages. So far, I have the RT800i's, CS400i, and the FX500i's all powered by a Denon AVR3802. So far this setup is sounding pretty good but I'm looking forward to the delivery of my PSW650 sub. Since it seems there are a few ways to hook up the sub, I thought I would try the method recommended at the Polk site. This involves I think running the front speaker cables from the receiver to the sub then running speaker cables from the sub to the front speakers. The receiver settings would be to indicate that there is no sub present and to set the speakers to large. Does this sound right or is there another better way to do this?

Thanks.

Ed

that is one way to do it. the other would be to run the sub out line form your 3802 to the line input on the 650. set the 800's to small and sub to yes. i would recommend trying both and see which one sounds better to you. hooking it up the way you mentioned allows greater control of the crossover frequency to allow the sound to blend together how you like it. the additional way i mentioned is easier, but to some not as desirable a sound. sound, being as subjective as it is, try both ways and play around. if you run it to the sub then to the fronts, i suggest purchasing AVIA or a test disc of this sort if you don't have one. this will allow you to ensure that you have a seamless crossover abd help with bass management. good luck and keep me posted on your findings.
