Rage Against the Machine

For whatever reason I never, until recently, got into Rage Against the Machine too much. I've been listening to them on my Blackberry with Slacker Radio and I'm diggin it. So my question is... Is it worth buying a couple CD's? Are their CD's dynamic, or are they mastered with the typical lifeless dynamic compression that most CD's are mastered with nowadays?

Their first album is crazy good; it gets progressively less exciting after that, although evil empire isn't a BAD disc. But, if you're looking to buy some of their stuff, get the first disc. It is still in my regular rotation.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rage_Against_the_Machine_%28album%29 is their first and best but I love all of it.

They're a little before the "mp3 is best" times so their recordings are pretty good.

I have all of the Rage CD's; I was a big fan of them when I was younger and still listen to them every now and then. Their debut album and Battle of Los Angeles are both pretty good. Their live CD is poorly recorded though; I'd stay away from that one if you come across it.

Their first album is one of the few cd's that I can listen to all the way through, its awesome. Evil empire & Battle for los angeles arent quite as good but definatley have some great songs on them. Good quality recordings too.

They used to be my favorite band. I can't say they are a good demo disc to show off a system, but I will still ocassionally pop in one of their CDs.

I think all of their albums are worth owning. If you like one of them, you are likely to like them all.

They are wonderful to listen to if you want to drive faster than you should, or to stay away during a long or late road trip. Throw in them or Disturbed and it would be difficult to drift asleep.

Giving me ANY reason to drive faster than I already do is not a good idea.

I went through a Dirsturbed kick a while back and am a little burnt out on them now.

If u like rage against the machine-- try audioslave.. their first album kicks ****. It's the ultimate pairing.. chris cornell's vocals and ratm's hard edge.. any ratm album is worth having just for the awesome guitar work alone. You can't go wrong.

Renegades is a great release. Anytime you have The Ghost of Tom Joad and Microphone Fiend on the same title it needs to be heard.

I'm a fan of all their stuff, but agree with the consensus that the first album is definitely the best.

The first rage CD sounds great. In all honesty it probably sounds the best of all the CDs I have. The bass is loud and tight, and the music is crystal clear. If you like to listen to music loud, then the first rage CD will sound wonderful.
