I've only seen Ricky Gervais in 3 flix, but he seems as one dimensional as David Carusso.

Thx for the warning. I was about to check this one out because I somehow confused Stephen Fry with Ricky Gervais. I liked Fry in V for Vendetta.

Plot was much more subpar than I hoped.

I never expect much from movies, which is why I am usually pleasantly surprised and usually enjoy most movies. I do have to agree however, that I was expecting a LOT more in "funny" than this movie delivered.

In general I like main actor's type of comedy, but there was really only a few "laughable" spots in the whole movie.

Based on the commercials, the premise of the story sounds funny, but in it's execution, it does a total face-plant.

I like John Turturro, but hated him in Transformers. He was much better in O Brother, Where Art Thou, and other comedies.

I wouldn't judge him based on his role in TF.

I thought the same. I haven't seen V for a while, but thought that was Gervais in it.

It was a Ricky Gervaise vehicle riding on the success of another horrible movie, Ghost Town.

I was pissed because the concept had so much potential.

They should've handled it with more wit and subtlety.

Yup. I thought it was a good concept and I t hought Ricky Gervais, who is a funny guy despite some of his movies, could do something good with it.

    Not so. Absolutely terrible.

If you guys would listen to old **** guys like me, who have seen the evolution of the film industry, from mostly bad flix, with some absolute life lasting experiences, made by people who fet they were really doing something important, along with many happy accidents, where everything just happened to come together just right, to create a marvelous 2 hours, you could do a lot better.

I mean really, ricky freakin gervais?, any sort of heavily advertised hollywood anything?, what the hell did you expect?

    Transformers?, jesus christ.

I have recommended films like "Fitzcarraldo", which i came upon by total accident, not to say its everyones type of movie, but beats the hell out of sitting like a robot, watching commercials for the sequel to the hangover, then running out to see it, just to report back, shocked, dissapointed, that it was just as bad as the first one you fell for.As if getting ripped off for 2 hours of your life the first time was not enough to deter similar behaviour "Intacto', another interesting film, not the godfather, but beats the hell out of anything hollywood spent 10 bucks advertising lately.

And dont forget documentarys, how about "Note by Note", all of these movies i have recommended, no one here ever related having seen it, either because of my recommendations, or on their own.

But i can count on the media machine persuading people to mindlessly seek out the last one they saw a commercial for, then complaining her about plot development, or the similarity to other godawful crap movies they have seen lately.

    Honest to god.

And for once, i dont care if someone getts his feathers in a bunch.

RICKY GERVAIS!, THE PLOT HAD SUCH POTENTIAL!
