I highly recommend the Toshiba XDE players. They are very affordable and have some of the best DVD video quality out there. They are cheaply made, but at $60, its hard to beat.

let us know what you get... you dont need an hdmi for 720p but while you are buying you might as well get it incase you upgrade your tv.. but dont pay a big price for it...
Why not? HDMI is much cheaper and easy to hook up than those messy component video/audio cables. -
why not what? i told him he might as well get one.. i dont think hdmi cables are cheaper in the local stores which is where he was going.
i just reminded him that he doesnt need one, as in it is not required to have hdmi, to transfer a 720p signal. that is all. -
Does a component cable transfer digital? I am thinking it is only analog, but I might be wrong. With HDMI the TV can decode the digital signal, and it might do a better job than an inexpensive BR or DVD player. HDMI cables appear to be one of the few cables that give the same result regardless if it cost $20 or $200 dollars. I hated my component cables, and was glad to replace them with an HDMI.Lumin X1 file player, Westminster Labs interconnect cable

THere's a guy on Craigslist selling HDMI cables 6 1/2 feet for $5. He's only about 2 miles from me.
I went to Best Buy and HH Gregg to buy the player but so many options and salesman crap I came back home and watched the games. I'm researching more models and learning more before I purchase. -
