Found a carver C-4000 pre-amp on cl for $200.00. Any body familiar with this unit? Is this a good buy. Would be used ahead of a carver TFM 24.

Thanks Maurice.

That's a very decent price for a really nice pre. I'm using a C-1 which is the little brother of the C-4000 and a TFM-25 and it sounds great. By the way I payed $275 Canadian for the C-1 about 2 years ago.

Thanks for the response. With basicly the same amp, you are just the person I wanted to hear from.

    Thanks again, Maurice

That's a decent price. I have a C-1 that I really like. As Fongolio said, they're very similar to the C-4000.

I've had mine paired with both a TFM-25 and M1.0T. Both ways it sounds very good.

Here's a short but interesting read I just found on this topic over at the carver forum.
