These speakers are barely within my price range and driving distance.

Any opinions on getting these or waiting for a set of SRS's?

SDA 1B's are in my opinion underrated. They are actually very good.

With the exception of a couple of pushed dust caps they seem to be in pretty good condition. Price is a little on the high side, so if your plan is to trade them for a bigger one later, I would just wait for that next one.

Those have been on Ebay for at least a couple months now. I am assuming the reason they are still there is the price. I have considered them a few times, but am still hoping for the set that has only been driven around the block once or twice and then retired to the closet.

Those are 1C's. They only have a single speaker binding post. Paid $450 for my studios (without the wood paneling) in mint condition and VERY happy. The price seems within reason if they are functionally and cosmetically in good shape.

I think the 1c studios have the black cabinets. Look like 1b's.

Maybe my manual is wrong. The original manual came with the 1C's I bought. It has the primary manual which came with a 'B' series and an addendum that Polk included for the 'C' version. One of the distinctions between the B's and C's according to the manual is that the B's have dual binding posts where the C's don't. I'd love to get this one cleared up by someone in the know....

I meant wooden end caps in my post a few posts back. My 1C's like all 1C's have single binding posts.

1C Studio's were black and had the base.

1C Regular had the cloth side panels and the wood/wood veneer end caps.

all 1C's had single binding posts.

1C's had blade/pin, except some very early 1C's had blade/blade and could not use the AI-1 w/o internal modification which you would need to contact Polk about.

The 1's in question here look like 1B's or at best very early (change-over model-blade/blade) 1C's. The way to tell for sure is to pull the drivers and see which model #'s they are. 1C's used the newer edge-wound voice coil drivers similar to what the SRS's were using at that time. I have 1C's and I can't remember the driver #'s off the top of my head MW6510 & MW6511 I think (my SDA compendium is at home).

According to Polks literature of the time period they are 1B's. They have the kick plate at the bottom and look exactly like the pics in the literature I have.

1B's are a 4 Ohm speaker, 14Hz-26,000Hz, maximum output level of 122dB and an efficiency of 92dB.

Would probably take a good amount of juice to make them run well.
