Good amp for LSi9 2 channel

Currently have a nice little 2 channel stereo set up using an Emo UPA-2 185W into 4 ohms. Sounds fine. BUT.... considering getting an upgraded amp to see if it can be better. Would like to stay under $1000. Any suggestions?

See the flea market for those Outlaw Audio Mono blocks. Very nice amps, and should hold you over for some time.

I have the Aragon powering my LSi-15's. It's awesome! It replaced an EMO RPA-2 that did a satisfactory job, but the Aragon eclipses it completely. They can be picked up on Audiogon for under $1K.

From what I understand the LSi-9's dip into even lower impedances than the 15's. So you want a lot of current capabilty. The UPA-2 won't suffice.

That would be a lateral move. Outlaw = Emotiva; Emotiva = Outlaw

Why Change your amp? You have many other short comings before the amp. I wouldn't change your amp. The WPC is meaningless at best. Think source and pre, a 70wpc integrated would probably be an upgrade.

Sunfires are the BEST amp on planet earth... in fact GOD himself could not build a better one! How dare you bash on Sunfire. Don't be all butt-hurt just because I was smart enough to buy great gear used for 1/4th the price of an EMO new and have better gear than anyone else on the planet. :):)j/k...:p:D:D

    FYI:
Danny Richie did some measurements of the LSi9, his findings are quite interesting:
"My biggest concern with it was the really low impedance. It dropped to 2.47 ohms at the tuning frequency (about 60Hz), and was 3.64 ohms at 192Hz."

You definitely want comments on this because by specs I'd choose the A21 over the A23 for the LSi's.

I would consider something that doubles down at 4ohms and is 2ohm stable.

Though I agree WPC is not what determines how good/bad an amp is, for a speaker like the LSi9 you do need a decent amount of watts to keep up with the low impedance. You need that headroom or your dynamics will be very limited.
