What to do with/about fried sub amp??

I was torn on the sub section or electronics, but I chose electronics for obvious reasons...I'll spare the details, but long story short:
I had a PSW505 and ended up with an extra amp through some repair issues. I sold the 505 to a friend really cheap as he couldn't afford a new decent sub. Tonight he calls and says it died(no good deed goes unpunished). I tell him check the fuse, and it's blown. He replaces fuse, and it immediately blows again. So, being the good person I am, I gave him my spare amp(I DID have other plans for it:(). That fixed the problem. I now have a fried BASH amp for the 505. It looks like the transformer committed suicide.
Would it even be feasible to try and repair/get it repaired? Would I be better off chalking it up as a loss, and just buying another plate amp? I was going to use it to make a "party sub", but that's down the drain I suppose:( Suggestions or ideas? Thanks!

If it was me, I'd rig a new transformer and bypass the one in the amp. If that made the amp work I'd get a new transformer. Otherwise, I might scrap it for parts.
Again, if you're thinking about fixing it, you need a way to replace some of those parts at no cost.
It's too bad you gave up the other amp so quickly. You could have used that to troubleshoot.
Bypassing parts in an amp is not easy or fun. The transformer is about the only thing that can be bypassed, but are you comfortable doing it? -

Thanks for the input guys! I'm not comfortable really trying to fix it. I mean, I can solder anything, but I really don't know what I'm doing. I can swap parts etc., but..... I think Tony is probably right. It's not worth the time or money considering the amp. I can likely buy another plate amp much easier than trying to fix this one. If there's one thing I have learned with this audio stuff, it's know when to chalk up a loss, and I think this is one of those times:(Sony 40" LCD
