Need help with monsoon system in '00 Jetta

I have the factory installed monsoon stereo system with six changer in the trunk of my '00 Jetta. Only one speaker - on the front right side - is working now. I fear it will go out any day since it occasionally crackles and if I hit a bump the volumn will go up and down. The dealer says the speakers are not shorted out and cannot be fixed. The entire stereo system has to be replaced. I don't trust the dealer and suspect they are lying. But that said, can the speakers be fixed or will I really have to replace the entire system?
