Will it hurt, damage, or change the sound of the speakers if laid on its side.
These will be on top of a large entertainment center, slightly pointed down to 12 ft listening position.

LOL.Zeroes... I figured with a round tweeter between two 6.5" drivers, the sound characteristics might not be affected much. The speaker seems pretty symetrical.

No opinions/comments ?? I could go ahead and pull the trigger, but I didn't want to go thru the whole return thing if I ordered them online and they didn't work out.
Anyone know where I can listen to the TSi200's in the Dallas area. BB carries Polk...only TSi100's on the floor.

Not really sure man, that thread had some "good" info, so I got nothing to add. BB sells the new TSi's like you said, not sure why they don't have the 200's though. How about Huppins or something to that effect?

Buy a half dozen and stack them--don't use any other speakers; then write to BOSE and tell them you've invented a revolutionary new ONE POINT SOURCE surround system.

Just kidding..but Jeff is right there was a lot of interesting and good info in that thread...alas....one's literary prowess is rarely appreciated by the masses!

Generally, speakers from the same line sound similar. You should expect better bass response from the 200 but the overall sonic character will probably be pretty similar.

Just wanted to see/hear if imaging or L/R balance suffered much if laid on their side.

That is a question I can't answer as far as personal experience, but sounds like you may have to give it a shot and find out for yourself. Seems to be a debatable topic, but it has been done. Sorry we couldn't be more help.

It won't hurt you to try as Jeff says...there was some buzz on audiogon arguing that using a speaker that has a D'apolito array as a center would present a sound dispersal problem for anyone except someone sitting directly in front of the center.

It is true that this kind of array was designed for vertical placement by Mr. D'apolito. The best answer, of course would come from a Polk Audio Engineer.

    Good listening!
