Considering the Epik Empire will sell for around $1300, $799 is a steal.

If you've ever heard an Epik, you'd be less concerned about the amount of watts the amp is rated at.....

Lee, I think you're misreading something or are listening to some of the AVS speculation on the price. There's no way Chad would offer an intro price that's nearly half off regular price. He'd be losing money on the sub. No business would do that.

The intro price for a single Empire is $799, duals $1499. I'm guessing regular price will be $899 and $1599.00...or he'll do what he did with the Conquest and just keep the price at $799.

If it performs as well as other models and I don't see why not. It's going to be a hell of an option at $800.

    Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
    SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
    PB13Ultra RO

For a limited time, the introductory price of the Empire subwoofer will be $799. The introductory price for dual Empire subwoofers will be $1499. That’s nearly half off the MSRP
it does say 1/2 price in the add

Ya know, I read right over that. However, I still can't see anyone offering even a 40% off intro price. It's just not good business. If the sub is meant to sell at $1400, it's his new top of the line sub. That's a fair price and a great deal if it can hang with a PB13 or a Submersive. He'll sell alot of subs. An intro price of $1200 would make sense. I haven't spoken to Chad in sometime, maybe I'm wrong, we'll find out soon for sure.

Just chatted with Epik and they keep talking about this MSRP ****. Must be some sort of selling gimmick. They finally can around and said after there intro price the price will go up to $999.

Wonder why all of a sudden the msrp crap?

A $200 savings on intro pricing is still steep and I would think, unnecessary. I assume this will take the place of his Dragon. Depending on how it performs, I'm thinking a pair of these will make folks think twice about a Submersive.

Wait for Craigsub's CS18.1 and CS18.2 at $800 and $1400 respectively. There will be a battle in that space between the 2 companies.

Had a conversation with him on Monday...just waiting for some amp parts. Betas will go out, then production units. I'd say end of Feb., early Mar.

I'm thinking this is going to be a great sub and perhaps closer to the Submersive than I originally thought. I did read where Chad is dropping the 18s from his lineup, since none of them will out perform this one anywhere above 35hz. The ported 18s had the advantage around tuning, but the sealed Empire will roll off more shallowly and regain the advantage below tuning.

If you're subject to room gain, the Empire will likely get you flatter response down low where a ported sub like the Phoenix or Dynasty will hump up below 30hz and will need to be scrubbed to get flat.

No, I am waiting to see the graphs from this AVS thread before I go with either a SVS PB-12+ or dual Empires. Both should be a decent upgrade from my PSW125
