Monitor 10's in da hause

Woow hoo...I picked up some Monitor 10b's this weekend (square faced cabinets) I love them. I got them for quite a steal ( I won't say cuz Ben (Con404) will kill me...hehe) and I knew going in that they had a 'supposedly' bad tweeter and a broken binding post. Post was an easy fix, as I had some I had pulled out of some other speakers, and the tweeter was even easier, IT WAS JUST THE FUSE.

I guess they have been sitting idle for a while, cuz when I first hooked them up, after fixing a couple of issues, I thought I knew why ppl said the bass was alittle 'muddier' than the 7's. After letting them 'burnin' for 24-30 hours though, last night they seemed to pull it all together and now sound very clear, at least to my novice ears.

In fact I have a question: These are the model using the SL1000 tweeters. What is interesting is the Monitor 10's have the 'shunt cap' and the high's have all of the details without the distortion, shrilly-ness that that SL1000's in my Monitor 7's exhibit. (I do have to add that I have not had a chance to really 'crank them' yet, so my opinion may change)

Is this because of the 12uF shunt cap? (if that is the right term) I would have to say, that I am really happy with the high's on the Mon 10's,and I hope I can reproduce it in my Mon 7's.

i have pair monitor 10 b they sound good same drivers they are 25 year old sound good they are 12uf too the tweeter i got mind from flea market

And no, i won't kill you, i'm quite happy with my Esprits right now, and i don't really have room for 10s. I might be mad on the other hand if you drove out to Indy to pick them up...

I have a pair of 7B's with SL1000 (for now) and a pair of 7c's with SL2000's again for now).

I thought you might **** if I told you how much I got them for.....since you were complaining last week about how we have all the deals out here......

but since you asked, I got the 10b's, with SL1000's (for now) a fully functional, Sony RTS-GX47ES receiver and a MCS 6300 TT.................

Hahah, i can't complain about that, at least a Polkie got them.

I shouldn't complain about deals, the vast majority of my gear has been screaming deals, it's just been dry out here lately. It'll pass.
