Sub for LSi'25s??

Looking to get some feedback from the group here. I picked up the LSI25’s and LSIc last year when Tweeter was going out of business. Now that I have finished my dedicated theater, I am now looking to match a sub to take over the low end as the 25s just don’t give me that deep low end for movies (and perhaps even music). My room is 15x17x9 and I am running pre Onkyo 886 and Emotiva XPA-5 for the mains and surrounds. The fact that the 25’s have the plate amp and drive the 10 inch woofers made me think I did not need a sub initially, but pretty sure they would open up somewhat if I added a dedicated sub. I have been looking at the SVS-PB12 Plus, but wasn’t sure if that was too much for my room (or perhaps not enough??). I do about 30/70 music to movies so I would like the sub give forceful (but clean) impact with explosions/gunfire, but also be musical when listening to 2 channel stuff.

Once I get a sub, I am sure I will be deeply confused with the 25’s since they are powered and confused on the crossovers after adding the sub. Any feedback on the SVS or any other recommendations? We just had twin girls a few months ago, so my internet research time has been cut in half!!

SVS PB12 Plus does an excellent job with the Lsi25's, you won't need more sub. My 25's are left unplugged, it's like 2 cats chasing a moose. But if you have 2+ acres between you and your neighbors there's always the PB13 Ultra!

    Oppo BDP-83 Blu-Ray
    Outlaw 7500 300w x 5 @4 Ohms Amp
    58" Panasonic 800U 1080P Plasma TV
    SVS PB-12 Plus Sub
    Lsi25 Fronts-Cherry
    LsiC Center
    LsiFX Surrounds
    SMS-1 Velo Sub EQ
    PBJ Interconnects
    Blue Jeans Cables

Everything was going just fine till my buddy poked the cop in the chest and said "did Andy give you your bullet today Barney?"

I was curious if I would turn off the the bottom portion of the 25's with the addition of a good sub, but it sounds so counter intuitive. I am getting really good sound for 2 channel, but is the argument that a really good sub will fill in and even enhance what the powered portion of the 25's were doing? Where do you have your crossover set if I might ask?

So I just picked up the SVS PB-12 Plus sub. For those that have the LSI25's, are you disabling the bottom portion of your speakers and letting the subs handle the low end or is there a way to use the speakers in full range and also a sub without doubling the efforts and getting things muddy?

I usually leave my sub off. I had my Velo SPL-1200R before buying the 25s. I f I had started with the 25s I doubt I would have ever bought the Velo. If you don't need the floor to shake, then the 25s are plenty. For music, the stereo woofers in the 25s definitely outshine a single sub, or at leats that's what my ears say.

In that room one Polk Micropro 4000 would do the trick and match nicely with the LSIs....sure the SVS subs are great but they aren't as aesthetically pleasing as a nice black laquer 1000 watt Micropro 12" sub. These subs are also very 'musical'..

more than enough for so small a room!
