Also bummed... faulty rti38
Drove 2 hours to Vegas on Saturday and ended up purchasing a pair of RTI38's to replace my RT35's(which will now get the surround duty). I'd been planning on buying them online, but decided to spend the extra cash and get a model without the serial numbers scraped off...
Well, I popped the sound and vision calibration disk in to get my speaker levels right... and I noticed that one of the RTI38's has a tweeter that hisses when I play the pink noise from the disk. It's clearly discernable there is a problem when I compare the speaker with the other RTI38. I switched cables/channels to see if it was a problem with the receiver or the disk and it seems clear that it's the speaker.
It sounds like there is an air leak or something, almost like there is a hole in the tweeter(though I can't see one).
Looks like I get to drive back to Vegas. I sort of already felt like I was paying too much($400), now I get to add an extra $20 on for the gas ; )
