I have a 73 inch Mitsubishi rear projection and I just bought four m70's.I posted on here and people said that my 20 year old sony str was not going to last pushing the four speakers so I have just ordered a 7.1 Marantz Sr6001 receiver. My questions are these:My room is 125 " wide and the tv in the center takes up 63 of those inches. I like the look of the four m70's on each side of the tv-so I am shooting for four fronts. my room is 37 feet long and I get 15 feet for my length of my theater area before it gets into fish tank and exercise bike area. My idea is to have the four m70 fronts -no center and 2 times 2 orb audio speakers on three foot towers for rears. Also i want to upgrade the speaker wires? Is this important? Is 16 gauge from Radio shack ok or does expensive stuff matter? Do I want to have both wires copper or is one silver ok? Thanks for all help in this matter.Darryl

So you're going with 4 M70s up front...do you know if that Marantz can run 4 as fronts..it would have to have that option as a bi-wiring option or a A/B two sets of fronts. Orb speakers for the back...? Why? You like Orb??? Why not some Polks?

You're going to go phanthom center, right? You will still need a SUB?

As for speakers....use at least 14 gauge and try monoprice.com or bluejeans.com they have better entry cables and it does matter?

hmm do you just want a wall of sound or what are you shooting for with the 4 fronts?
Honestly I would do a more traditional 5.1 set up but thats me, as I find the 4 mains to conflict with your sound stage a bit. I had a friend once long ago try it and to me sounded terrible but if you like it go for it.
If you don't have an AVR that can do it, the other two channels up from will normally be just side surround affects, meaning that its not going to sound correct up front normally.
Also speaker wire, I would say yes it does change performance and sound, but also you wouldn't want to pair 2000 cables with 300 speakers. Are you wanting to just do bare connections or are you thinking about bananas or spades or other?
Blue jeans cable isn't bad at all, signal cable is very nice and there is always the DIY which some people do enjoy doing.

THE ONLY REASON FOR THE ORB AUDIO IS THAT I ALREADY HAVE THEM. i COULD ALWAYS OFFER THEM ON EBAY AND MOVE TWO OF MY M70'S TO THE REAR.i JUST BOUGHT SOME MONSTER XP-CI SPEAKER WIRE THAT WAS HALF PRICE AT RADIO SHACK FOR 49.99 FOR 100 FOOT. PLUS I HAD A HAPPENINGS BOOK COUPON FOR AN ADDITIONAL 15.00 OFF. IS THE CS2 CENTER THE MATCH FOR THESE M70'S? THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP.

I really like your set up. Especially considering I already have a good start with the four M70'S.That is a lot of speakers and power in your set up. Could you give me some idea as to the room size for all that? Thanks,Darryl

Honestlty I think 4 70's up front wouldn't do you any good. Move two of them to the back, get a CS2 for your center, and start looking into subs. The 70's, IMHO are overkill for your surrounds since not all that much sound goes to them in the first place, but since you already have them might as well use them. Some people have been happy with the 70's as surrounds (as it sounds like wesouth is) but like I said that is just my opionion. You are off to a good start, get the CS2 and a couple subs and you will be in business.
