So i'm selling a couple of CD players/changers on Craigs. and I get a couple people interested in them. Get some calls with people wanting to see and hear them. Cool.

Then I get those "other" craigs buyers who want me to drop the price on it, then deliver it to them at their house about 5 miles away. Seriously people, i just took $15 off the price, now you want me to deliver it to your doorstep like freakin' UPS?

What part of that do you not understand that I won't do? Seriously.. I get about 1 in 4 people wanting me to deliver my items for sale after I dropped the price. WTH?

end of rant. for now anyways...

I totally agree. I had my COD game on Craigslist for $25 and a kid calls me and offers me $15 which I would've taken but me wanted me to drop it off to Racine which is a half hour away.

CL is like the Wild Wild West of free wheeling market. Like everything else, it's a hit and miss. To some degree, Fleabay is more regulated and has better chance of having successful transaction.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

i don't like to ship CD players.... in my experience they can be delicate to ship. Yeah you can pack the hell out of them.. but all it takes is one good jolt from being dropped and the laser can become lose or out of alignment. so I rarely ship CD players.

I have sold and bought a lot of stuff on CL over the years. Mostly guitar, amps, preamps, processors etc. And I at no time will allow a potential buyer to come to my house. I will meet them in a public place or occasionally go to their house. With my 9mm of course. :D But other than that, they aint coming to the house!

My experience buying and selling on craigs has been very positive. Not sure if it's the southern hospitality in Dallas compared to Los Angeles but I can't complain. Just bought a decent pair of RT1000s for nice a price. Now looking for a center channel.

Gary, i understand man.. gotta protect yourself and your gear.. but if I was to buy a pre amp for instance from you. i'd want to hear it before I bought it.. so i would expect that at least. so that's not possible if you met me somewhere, right?

I won't buy an item without hearing it first. ;)

Hand deliver to Alaska eh? ROADTRIP!!

Joking aside, I buy and sell on ebay and craigslist. The ones that tick me off are where you drive to them and they either already sold it(even though you agreed to a deal) or they don't answer the door :( Gas is too expensive to waste on trips from Olympia to Seattle..

That is why I would bring it to your house and hook it up and let ya hear it first. I have taken guitar amps to peoples house before for them to test out. Never had an issue yet doing it that way.

I have better luck on craigslist bartering with audio gear. Ie, you come over here and do THIS to me, and I'll give THAT to you.

And no, the THAT is not Clamydia.

i guess i'm one of those buyers who want sellers to deliver the stuff. As I live in NYC, I have no car. Therefore it's much harder to transport speakers or amps. I'd prefer not to bring speaker a size of a person onto the subway. So that's why it's a factor in my purchasing decision.

it's not even "to some degree." Ebay charges money on top of advertisements, they must offer more.

Southern hospitality? That's a meaningless term around here. But I'm
glad it went well for you. Normally any real audio buffs aren't too bad to deal with.
DFW craigslist pc guys will screw you over in a heartbeat.

E-pray starting to get just as bad. My CROWN macro refrence was appraised AT Crown for 2K.I started at 2K or best offer ( set at 1,800.00 ) with free shipping. Had alot of watchers no bids. Re listed for 1,680.00 with 85 shipping. same thing. Tons of e-mails wanting to buy under table for 1,300.00.Now my unit on paper is CERTIFIED by CROWN to be operating at full printed specs. Also you got ORIGINAL owners manual , larger one off Crown's web site , Crown service manual and a Monster un-ballanced to RCA 24kt plated studio link cable to boot!. My electrolumenecent lighting also worked. It all pissed me off because all the units going for 1,300.00 looked like they had been dragged behind a truck , caught on fire , breeding ground for dust bunnies and screws missing. Did not see 1 unit in that price range that the lighting worked. In the bad economy every dick head out there are trying to low ball you and take advantage of the situation. I got pissed at the 1 guy who made offers under the table both times to let me know what his repair bill was to make the lighting work and bring it back to FULL operating specs. It is currently protected under a towel and bought a Rotel RB-1090 demo with warranty left on it. Couldn't be any more happy. The Crown sounded good but WAY too much power for my RTiA9's rated at 760wrms@ 8 ohm.
