Another old man brain cramp

I cannot get "setup" on my Denon Receiver to show up on the monitor/TV screen. I have done this successfully 7-8 times as I have switched speakers in and out. Now, all of a sudden, the set up menu won't appear.

I have switched inputs, tried component connection instead of S-video (even though I don't think the set up works with component)....everything is in its right place or it would not have been working...I am wondering if I hit the wrong button on the remote. Is the OSD involved in this?

Help....I switched out speakers again and need the set up. Thanks.

    OSD = On-Screen Display, so yes, I would say that's related :)
    If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

    I doubt it. I have disabled OSD on all the processors I've had, the menu's still come up. How else would you ever be able to change settings again?

    OSD usually refers to on screen volume and input information.

    There seems to be something wrong with the monitor out function. The OSD on the Denon simply shows a display of the source and the mode (i.e., stereo or whatever) while watching movie or dvd. And it is not showing not showing up either.

    I would think I had a bad S-video connection, but it has worked fine and nothing seems wrong. It is the only video monitor I am using, so nothing is overriding it.

    Are you accessing the correct input from the TV source selection?

    yeah...7 inputs and tried 2 different S-video and then tried a component input. I'm gonna go down and check over the obvious again....

    What model Denon is that? I have some of the older user manuals on my other laptop as PDF files?

    Did you look at the manual...I know they pretty much suck but it has to have something in it?

    The model is 5800, but I was using the remote that came with the 3802, which I also have. The 3802 remote was running all functions on the 5800 except to tune the FM. I have both manuals and they simply tell you to push the "set up" button.

    Again, the odd part is it worked fine for several weeks, and then when I changed out center speakers and wanted to adjust channel levels, the set up would not appear on the monitor.

    Thanks for the suggestions....I will see if a new day has brought any bright ideas.
