I'm sure everyone is going to ask, what's your budget? Without anyone knowing how much you want to spend, it will be really hard to suggest anything.

As for speakers, you can't beat polk's ebay store, if you don't mind going refurbished. I have yet to hear one complaint about their refurbished products.
Denon 1909, want to upgrade for pre outs
    Fronts-polk RTi A5
    center-polk CSi A4
    Sides Polk FXi A6
    rears- polk rm8's
    sub-SVS pb-13 ultra
    Blue ray-ps3
    Panasonic plasma 50 inch
Buttkicker(don't use or need it anymore since getting the Ultra)

See showcase for ideas, or u can see my sig line for my own. Grimster has PJ setup or you can search forum as some others are using PJs as well. In your case and with your budget you should check out the Panny 4000U or Epson 8500UB. As for screens check out Elite EZFrame screens or Carada. I would stay away from the changers and check out the Oppo BD player. If you have more questions, please ask.

To make it a little easier I'll post so he doesn't have to search for me in the showcase. Definitely look into the Elite screens if your on a budget and if you want to spend a little extra go with the Carada which was my first choice but you can't beat the price of the Elite screens.

now those two theatres are what im looking for. i do however have a walk in closet that would house the electronics so there are bentilatoin issues as well. i love the ideas i can get here they are really superb!. what does the wall measure that the 92 inch elite is on? also i have 8 inch walls so i think flush mount will be the way to go as we do have small children and those nuc aux lights are just too tempting lol. if i need a fix i can go to the closet. i guess the place ot start would be power installation/conditininers and then the window treatments/blackout. weve already agreed on the tiers for the seating so i guess i could get a materials list together. what kinf of time frame for installation would you guess? i will do it myself and a buddy night help a bit. my guess would be 6 mos or so to have it all "built in". the wife already said she doesnt want to compromise the floor space. thanks all... this is gonna be great!

I did the planning for my room while building. From start to finish was 6 months but I was building from zero. Search Grims theater build as he posted it when he started.

Hands down I think Carada has the best value in screens. I love my bright white. They have great service too. You can send them an email and they will recommend the right screen for your needs.

ok... so the sizes seem unlimited as i sort of expected. do you have to match the screen size to the projector or can you adjust the projectior to the screen size? also do i lose clarity quality if its not a huge screen? i mean...does the projector have the same resolution no matter how far away from the screen it is or do the pixels get bigger the farther away it its and by that it would get fuzzy i would think?

Use a projector calculator to help you decide your throw distance. I have my PJ mounted at around 19 feet with an image size of 126" . To answer you most PJs will have a zoom and lens shift to get the image center screen. You will not lose clarity with a huge screen but you will lose lumen output ( brightness). It takes allot to light up a large screen and also keep in mind those PJ lamps will dim. I would go no larger than 120-130 inches, just because of the fact you will lose brightness at around 500hrs or so. Go to projectorcentral.com to use their pj calculator.

thanks ill check it out. i have kind of a small room. thus the no speaker foot print or in the wall sound and the components in the closet. really about 6 seats and a popcorn popper is all theres room for. my screen size would be aroun 78x48 or thereabouts so not a lot of expense there. i do have a thoughtabout a curved screen though. i dont want to be crazy but since i hevent started it i guess i should explore all avenues. what s your thoughts on a mini imax?

Curve screen is only used with "scope" setup. If your room is not that big then you are wasting coin for sure. Keep in mind if you do go scope (native 2:35) then you have to have a pj that can do vertical stretch and will need a lens (cost around 2000-3000). The Panny 4000U can do scope without a lens but you will need the aspect screen to match. Easier route to take is go 16:9 widescreen (same as your LCD/plasmas) and enjoy the show. That's the easiest route to take, or so I've seen.

Personally I'd go with a 16:9 as many of us have done. I know that Sherard as well as myself have looked into going scoped and the added fees of a good lens as well as all the other extras isn't worth it in my opinion unless you are going big, when I say big I mean 10 seats or more. Another thing to keep in mind is where you are going to install your projector. If at all possible try to keep your zooming at a minimum to avoid a trapezoid effect from happening. The further you have your projector mounted away from your screen the more lumens will be needed. I have my JVC mounted roughly 12' away from my 92" screen which has close to 1500 hours on it and it's as bright today as it was the day I installed it.

Was thinking about going this route (2.35) for my new projector setup. Definitely a step up on viewing pleasure.(IMO) Hifi heaven here in Wisconsin has a room setup with the curved screen and 2.35:1 and it looked outstanding. Only negative is the price for the conversion lens. I'm going to enjoy my projector when I comes for a while but will definitely be doing the conversion in the near future.

What new PJ did you decide to go with?
