I have too many speakers and my wife has been after me to free up some space, so I've decided to let these classics go. I can go into detail about their wonderful sound, but the fact that this model was in the Thiel line-up for almost 15 years says something about it's abilities. Here's a link to their website which has reviews, product info, technical details and manual. Scroll down until you see the CS 3.6.

I'm not the original owner, but I had them checked out at the Lexington, KY factory over the summer and they rebuilt one of the tweets, so they are in fine working order. One grille has only a slight snag and the frames could use some attention as they don't fit perfectly. The medium cherry finish cabinets are not in perfect shape. Outside of a good size scratch (9") on back of one, I'd rate them a 6-7 on the Audiogon scale. I can forward detailed pix as needed. No boxes and these pooches are not light-weights, so local pick-up would be preferred. I'm willing to meet anywhere in Ohio or possibly surrounding states.

$1095 plus shipping and paypal

Avalon, you are 3wks late! I had to buy a car or these would be mine! I have wanted a pair of these since 1996. paired with an ARC tube pre and McCormick DNA-1, these are some of the smoothest and revealing speakers on the planet for less than 5K. Good luck with your sale.
    2-channelBelles 22A Pre, Emotiva XPA-2 Gen 2, Marantz SA8005, Pro-Ject RPM-10 Turntable, Pro-Ject Phono Box DS3B, Polk Audio Legend L800's, AudioQuest Cable throughout.

    Where in Ohio are you?
Maybe I would be wise to look at these instead of that crazy monitor dream. I do have a friend or two by Akron who would help me with the transaction.

That's a wonderful speaker and a great deal at that price. For anyone that likes detail, tight basss and has a room greater than 10 x 13, this is a must buy.
I got new grills for mine for very cheap, and Thiel will refinish the veneer for you.

Are these still available? I've been looking at towers with a similar footprint for a couple of weeks now.
I didn't see these for sale until today.

I would like to hear them on my 600x2... they were used as a reference speaker when the amp was being reviewed and they said the combination was magic.

Just as this thread was starting to pick up some traction. They are now SOLD.

Sorry Harry! Just a few days too late. There is one happy Canadian that is crossing his fingers that UPS doesn't booger them up by the time they cross the border.

    Cheers!

Congrats on the sale! The guy got a very good deal on them.
FATE intervened on me by hours. It's all good as I'm sure there's a nice pair of towers with my name on them coming soon.

I'm so glad to know that these are on their way to Vancouver!!! Sorry everyone else who wanted these. I was looking for a pair and searching everyday (sometimes more than once) to find them. There are no Thiel dealers here so they are very hard to find in the great white north.

My Bryston 4B-SST (500w/ch into 4 ohms) is psyching itself up for the challenge. My ears can't wait. :D

    All the best,

    Hey Ricardo,

Can you let me know how you replaced the grills cheap? Thiel wants $140 for new replacements.

    Cheers

I drove to Lexington and had the speakers refinished with new grills for I think a bit less than $300. If I recall correctly, the quote for the grill was like $60 or something like that...but they used the old frame, so I should have said new cloth :o
