I have found a set of 10a's in very good condition. However, there are no stands with this pair. Would this be a deal killer for $150?

For best results, yes you'll want to get them onto stands. Not a deal killer (you could use aftermarket stands, or there's info here on this forum to roll your own); $150 sounds a trifle 'spensive, though, to me. Others will likely chime in on that.

Get 'em off the floor, tilt 'em back a bit if possible, keep them out of corners and away from the back walls (again, if possible) and they'll do you fine. Nice speakers.

I was testing this original Monitor Series Model 10 on an aftermarket Quad ESL-57 stand in this photo :-)

$150 is an okay deal; nothing special. Hopefully they're in excellent condition.

And for my experience, yes stands are an absolute must.

General rule of thumb, get the tweeter to ear level (if the speaker stand makes the tweeter parallel to the floor) or shooting upwards towards your ear (if the stands tilt the speakers back a bit.)

    +1, John,

And gotta love that quote there!

If you're good with wood working you might consider making your own stands probably save you some cash...just see if you can get the specs on the height and the tilt!

I'm sure 'someone' here must have done this!!!

Should be Peerless if they are 10As (I think...).
